I’m sorry I’ve never posted on here before, but there’s baby possums living under the hood of my car. I have another abandoned car that’s just sitting and I’d have no problem with them living in there. What’s the best way to move them or “encourage” them to move over to that car?

I’m afraid something will happen to me and someone will start my car and kill them. I took the battery out and told everyone to leave my car alone…but I’d feel more secure if they were safely in the other car, or anywhere else. I popped the hood and left it out all day but they just started climbing and hanging out (pic related) and they don’t seem to be bothered by loud noises. I love them, but don’t know what to do.

Just pick em up. They don't really bite unless you stick something in their mouth but you can wear gloves if you feel like you need to. Hell you can probably keep it as long as you don't post or brag about it online until the feds show up.

I heard they can die from shock if startled too often. I don’t wanna risk hurting them. I also want to make sure there’s none in the engine before I start it. Is there any way to repel them from where they are now?

It's fine as long as you don't lunge at them their reflexes and processing is just slower than most mammals. It's not the same as a constant high stress environment they'll be fine. If you want them out quick leave the hood open in the day to let the sun in and angle a light in there at night. Supposedly peppermint oil deters them could probably cover a rag in that and and put that in there and effectively gas them out.

Thanks anon. I’ll report back.
