Vet said my dog only has 1-3 months of life. I don't know what to do.
How old is he and what's ailing him?
>>5134223Pretty surreal, he looks fine. I went there to check his leg, and the vet said "he has a bunch of tumors on his lungs". He has been breathing a bit heavier but I thought it was just because he is 17 years old
>>5134237I don't know what to tell you, Anon. Parting ways with such a long time friend will hurt pretty badly. Cherish the time you have left with him and let him go when it gets too hard for him.
>>5134221That's tough news, OP. I recently lost my 11yo dog to hemangiosarcoma. We had no idea. One day we were playing ball and he fell and started babying his one leg. We helped him get around, but a few days later he went upstairs to play with my son in his room and fell down the last 5 stairs on his way back down. After that he started seeming wobbly on his back legs and his appetite was noticebly reduced, but not gone. I took him to our regular vet who checked him out and ran his bloodwork where we saw low platelets and high white blood cell counts as well as elevated billirubin. They assumed an infection and gave him doxycycline and prednisone and told us to take him to emergency care in 72hrs if he didn't get better. We made him chicken, rice, and broth and he ate like he was starving. The next day was a massive improvement. He was moving on his own, albeit slowly and eating a lot. The next day he got worse, more balance issues, seemed dazed at times, stopped eating. We gave him roast beef that we had made for dinner and he ate that with no issue. The next day he got worse, and I was having to help him walk outside so he didn't fall and support him when he went to the bathroom. I took him to the vet hospital where they performed an ultrasound and found a massive cavitated tumor in his abdomen, and many smaller ones. They called me back and told me they recommended euthanasia because he wasn't going to imorove. I thought he was injured or was ill and all of a sudden I'm going home without a dog. I'd recommend just making the best of your time left with him and keep an eye out for the end stage symptoms. It's not going to be easy, but at least you're aware.
>>5134221Vets are dumb. Give him fenbendazole and raw food.
>>5134237Anon he's already pushing it for a dog's age, let it go>>5134575Tard
my last dog lived to be 20i found the year or so of failing health leading up to his death was much worse than his actual deathit sucks but its the way it goesand then i got a puppy!
>>5134237dude, hes 17, hes at the age of death, and im going to be honest here, having sat through the entire death spiral and throes of an aged dog and actual death, dont; go euthanasia, its going to be much more relatively pleasant than watching your dog die of organ failure
>>5134221Give him a wonderful 1-3 months ;_;im sorry anon...
