The neighborhood cat passed suddenly... Apparently he went to take a nap this morning and just never woke up. I saw him last night and he was rambunctious as always. I'm not sure what could have caused him to pass, but him passing so suddenly is so upsetting.Rest in peace, bubs.
>>5136419Cats tend to have weak hearts. Heart attacks aren't that uncommon with them.
>>5136427I wonder if it was that, since my neighbor didn't think he was poisoned. He was so young too, definitely not older than 5. Poor darling...
My guy likes to knead around while holding his rat toy in his mouth and meowing. He does it whenever I leave his object impermanence
If you have a kitten please start getting them used to walks on harnesses!! Not for any humane reason, I just think it's cute
>>5136521Separation anxiety?
>>5136527I had a cat once, I was moving across the country and didn't have any choice but to get him a harness and leash since I was going to take him on the plane with me. I decided I would get him used to the thing before zero day. He was fine with the harness (even though it made him look like a fat guy wearing a baby-t). The minute I attached the leash to the harness his consciousness left his body and he became 18lbs of inert cat matter that refused to move. I figured if I dragged him a little he'd get the picture and go along for the ride. He did not, like channeling ghandi and his passive resistance the little furball let me drag him across the kitchen floor, outside onto the deck, across the deck, and into the grass.

I saw a couple at my pet store today walking their cat around with them on a leash. I think they were trying to do that "take the cat to busy places when they're young to socialize them" thing so it grows up friendly and used to people, but I think their cat was too old for it and it was just scared the entire time and not having any of it. I felt a little bad for the cat but it was kind of funny watching it try to hide around the store as they were walking around.
I got an eviction warning for feeding the (fixed) stray cats. The slumlords are claiming I'm damaging their property. Life sucks.
>>5136615If I take my cat lut on a leash for too long she wants to live outside and gets incredibly sassy and violent when I inevitably have to pick her up and walk her back inside. Often times she gets violent. I can pick her up and do whatever when she is inside no worries, but once she gets a taste of freedom she goes insane. Haven't taken her out in a while because of it. :(
>>5136615I'm thinking about buying a harness to take my cat for walks. But they're an adult and they're also a scardey cat. Would they adapt or would it be constant torture for them? My biggest fear is walking into someone walking their dog
>>5136712Put the harness on them and see if they move around normally after an hour or so. Then you can add leash. See how they react to gentle tugging on the leash. Then you can bring them outside and see if they just freeze or actually wander about.
>>5136541Nah don't think so. He'll even be right in front of the bathroom and see me enter it, keeping the door opened, and he'll still go get his rat (always the same toy too).
>>5136334this little 3 month old turd showed up all of a sudden out of the blue when i was enjoying sitting on my porch taking in some sun, strolled up to me then sat in my lap, licked my hands, my arms, and then laid upside down and took a nap then proceeded to follow me all over my property even while i was mowing my grass. i cant get away from him. got him his shots and bringing him inside never had a cat before. eh a cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything
>>5136699???I do that all the time. There's 4 that live in my alleyway and I give them fish. What is their argument for damaging the property?
>>5136779They claw the window screens.
>>5136781damn, well I guess that is property damage. It's a shame though, could have fed them a block away or something. Landlords should just tell you to stop though, immediate eviction is nuts. I've dealt with slumlords my whole life, finally got a chill place with a Chinese lady landlord who's super nice a few months ago, first time ever where my landlord doesn't seem like a huge piece of shit
>>5136334Unequivocally based and true OP
I'm going to have to fly with my old cat INA. few months. I'm scared she'll howl the entire way and I'm worried about sedation because she's 15. what do I do to make it easier for her?
>>5136762Cat distribution system at work
>>5136805I'd suggest taking her on a car ride to see how she handles long trips beforehand. I guess a plane ride would be pretty different but it'll still give you an idea of what she'll be like.My old bastard howls nonstop for like 15 minutes when I get him in the car but eventually he gives up and just stays quiet for the rest of the trip.
>>5136762Cute story. Hope you two have a good time together.
>>5136805>I'm scared she'll howl the entire way She will>and I'm worried about sedation because she's 15Don't worry about it, I had to fly with my cat and I asked my vet if there was a kitty-cat xanex I could give him, an the vet told me to just get some children's benedryl. Call them to double check the dosage if you don't feel comfortable doing the body weight conversion yourself. As long as there's no asprin in the pill its perfectly safe and it will just conk them out the same way it does to you or me.
