>Beloved childhood cat dies after 18 years together.
>Family gets new cat.
>It’s everything that cat haters say cats are.
>It’s fat, sleeps all day, doesn’t cuddle, is a living decoration
and will steal food if left out.
>Ruined multiple chicken dinners even when it’s was in a container by pushing it off the table and into the ground.

I feel nothing but resentment towards it, it’s nothing like my old cat, she was superior to it in everyway and I’m supposed to love it.

Cats are kids pets and they’re nice only for kids because the litterbox and surrounding mess, puke, destruction, and smelly cat house dust are your parents problem and you’re getting toxo early so you probably won’t even smell it.

You’re also too mentally simple at the time to realize cats are actually asocial animals bred into a neonatal mental state where they are constantly seeking out their mother and that all true social animals including man and dog are strongly cooperative and hierarchical.

My first dog was a dud (maltipooshi whatever that my sister bought) but I still ended up liking him quite a bit in spit of his reactivity and resource guarding issues. The dogs I got for myself have been lovely, since I put in the work since they were puppies. What I’m trying to tell you is that your family probably will never be able to make the degree of good decisions about their pets like you can, if you’re posting here. Cats seem to be more of a lottery anyway, though.
>>
sounds like your old cat was more tolerant to your childish tantrums, and the new doesn't want anything to do with you because you are obnoxious

>Dog nutter
How’s the knot?
>>

Whats a knot…
Actually, dont answer that. Its probably code for dog asshole. I still remember the schizo catfag that spammed bestiality porn.

Give him some time. Cats slightly shifts behavior every 2~3 months. Don't antagonize it.
Is it male, female?
Does it like to play at all?
You are the smarter mammal, presumably. Its on you to find ways to establish a connection to it.
Alternatively, it could just be the cat equivalent of a boring normie.

Cats require patience. If you don't work on the cat's terms, the cat will not tolerate you. If you can't accept that, you're a narcissist and should stop adopting cats. Do research into cat body language and see what the cat's trying to tell you. Be his friend. Move slowly, act aloof, slow blink at him, let him sniff your finger before you even try to pet him, see if he wants you to. If you work on a cat's terms, all but the most fucked up, feral cats will warm up to you and become cuddly and sweet eventually.

Cats dont have terms. They are asocial and borderline unconscious. They are mostly instinct and are manipulated. A cats terms are like a computers - it only works if you press the right buttons.

It is reasonable to be disappointed when you realize cats are basically machines compared to smarter animals like dogs, horses, and parrots. However they are a narcissists dream pet. On one hand, the cat has no choice or comprehension. Learn the programming language and it is your plaything. You can have total control and unlike a dog that cat will never think it knows better or wants something else more. They run on pure conditioning with negligible independent thought. On the other, a century of counterculture lying has convinced countless people cats are actually smarter than dogs and strong willed, so those idiots will think you are a very good and smart person. Literally the ideal pet for a narcissist. It’s like owning a preprogrammed yes man that everyone thinks consciously decided to worship you because you’re amazing.

Dogs are not like this. Dogs think. Dogs resist. The assumption is always that an obedient dog had to be made to obey. Only actual good people can extract cooperation from a thinking animal like a dog or a horse… the majority - IQ scores under 105 - resort to “discipline” (abusive boyfriend behavior). A narcissist can not bear the burden of having to beat their perception, and I say, could not. A narcissist with a dog can not resist the urge to affix a prong collar and pop the leash to stop their dog from breaking a heel to stop and sniff. They can not stand the perception that the animal is dominant. With a cat, the animal is never dominant but a lot of people have been convinced by oft repeated lies that it is a secret king.

Truth hurts. Cats are astoundingly unintelligent. It’s really like programming an AI driven robo pet. Some cats are literally born “loving” you (or any warm body). I can’t imagine a better pet for someone who had a need to feel like they are better than other people. Since cats are so simple, if you want to control one, you can. And if one is born working how you want it to, you don’t have to do anything.
The stereotypical cat owner is quite narcissistic as well (a stay at home, leftist leaning “new masculinity” guy who likes to imagine he’s smarter than everyone else, especially dog people, more likely to be an author or a poet than an engineer or a leader)

Dogs and horses are very strong willed and independent animals hence the huge market for literal torture devices for low IQ normtards to use to force them to listen. Only patient, intelligent, and genuinely empathetic people can work with them without resorting to abuse.
Of course, abuse is famous for only working on thinking animals. If you abuse a lower animal its thought process cuts off at danger bad and it runs away. So you can’t be a meathead to a cat… or a rabbit… or a fish. Higher animals have
>danger bad, but what’s my other option? worse?

>toxo
Hey Rajesh just letting you know in Western countries this isn't a concern for the average cat owner. Not all of us have the concerns you do in India.
>>
>>5138119
Indians have an average IQ of 72 and religiously consume feces. I doubt they know toxo exists or even comprehend parasites, germs, and viruses. Ever since they got internet i’ve seen more and more people deny the existence of bacteria and claim viruses are an invention of “the west”.

Toxo is primarily a problem for first worlders because we can actually diagnose it and perceive it as a real thing that comes from cats instead of a magical curse that comes from nowhere. 750 americans die from it each year, and that’s only foodborne cases, in a country with lower toxo prevalence than most of europe.
>>
Why not shoot it and get a new one? Or give it away and let someone else deal with it.
>>
>>5138121
That's cool Rajesh, just letting you know it's not a problem over here so please don't act like it is everywhere
>>
>>5138128
I’m a white American. Toxoplasmosis kills 20x more of my people than pitbulls.

In your home country, rabies kills 50k people a year and you believe cats are saving you from magical rat infestations that spawn into existence within days of the cats absence.

Please do not insinuate that I am one of your fellow “brah men” again.
>>
>>5138109
I actually have personal experience owning cats unlike you. Don't care about the rest of your sperg post, and why even bring up dogs or other animals?

>>5138142
I’ve owned cats and I’m never going back. My house is much cleaner and I’m done pretending these robotic animals are worth keeping up the larp. You go be a little narcissist now and tell everyone cats are secret kings and yours chose you because you’re a good person, as usual.

These things are literally programmable. Cat on table, off table, inside, outside, friendly, hiding, once you learn the machines controls the cat is entirely your choice. They actually do conditioned commands more consistently than dogs and without getting angry over delayed rewards.

>>5138143
You sound livid. Literally ever incel mass shooter insult delivered as passive-aggressively as possible. Don’t go near any schools or supermarkets. Thanks.
>>
>>5137847
Cats are a lot like chickens and rabbits. Really dumb, less reason, more instincts especially flighty prey animal ones but with claws. You get what you get, or you mkultra them with an animal behavior textbook on standby. A cat is never going to want to be your friend and try and understand what you want. It’s either been bred to or needs to be trained to following exact protocols with no room for error or vague signals because its tiny brain can’t account for them.

Why do dog lovers feel the need to insult cats and spout lies in random threads that even so much as mention cats? It doesn't add anything to any conversation, and it's almost always not true. I've had two dogs and a cat, and my first childhood dog was very intelligent, obedient, easy to teach, and the right amount of inquisitive as well. I loved her. But my second dog (technically my mother's) was outright retarded, a completely soulless being who existed for food and was impossible to relate to or communicate with.

Meanwhile, my old girl (15) is the smartest and most emotionally intelligent animal I have ever met. She is peaceful, friendly, curious, and quick to learn new things. She likes to be pet and will grab your hand if you try and pull away. She makes notably different noises when she wants different things, and she has a particular unique way she will meow to "greet" each of the majority of people in my life. I know she probably only has a few years left in her, if that, but I love her more than any dog. When she passes, the world will be a much darker place.

I guess I'll feel the same way as you, OP, whenever the time comes to "replace" her. Maybe don't be too hard on the new guy, he might get better. Nothing will ever replace the original though, and I think it's normal to feel resentment. Went through this with the dog, and I'll be facing it again.

cats are objectively a bit retarded even if a dog didnt like you child

they cant help it on account of the toxo
