My favourite great ape in Asia has to be the SEA female, if I were born 2 generations ago I'd likely be living in the jungle being exploited by a woman 20 years my junior with 13 siblings right now.
>>5145474Well, shortly after homo sapian arrived the last of Floresiensis disappeared shortly after and they already were under pressure by the environment removing what they thrived with. We have a bunch of traditional myths of short people stealing food if even some reasons for them being gone in said myths. I wouldn't exactly be surprised if I heard a tiny ethnic group in the mountains or islands pulled a Neanderthal/Denisova love game (like melanesians especially for that) on the Floresiensis way back and they have like a shred of it kept, but realistically, a lot of ethnic groups with extremely short statures stuck around to the modern day and some have ancestry we can tie to a split in an era like the middle ages in west central africa for example, but I am unaware of it for south asian pygmies and short ethnic groups, didn't dig that yet if we have genetic papers on it but will do. Did we sequence Floresiensis?

why do some apes have white scleras and some don't? across all ape species sclera coloration varies a lot, but for what reason or purpose?

But I have a lot of trouble understanding how the fingers became toes and the thumb's everything went that way. Feet are very weird. Convenient, fragile, weird. That said considering the documentary I watched yesterday on giant animals extinct and alive semi distant related, both their now size capped cousins and the massive old ones were reffered to as giants in it. (Le Mystère des Géant is a fun watch, I recommend the movie and épisodes. Binged the show's dvds over two days.)
