Hamster / gerbil / ferret / rabbit owners tend to be severely mentally ill

Are they supposed to be funny you fuck?

They're not particularly interesting either.
It is a pet you get for kids because they're pretty low maintenance, and kids are stupid and don't fully understand how consequences work, so they do dumb things an then learn and important life lesson about life and death, and live their lives with a little bit more empathy and gravity.
Like the point is to let your kid kill it.
I had gerbils as a kid. Worst thing that I ever did to them was snap off one's tail when I tried to pick it up. I felt bad, but they're also designed to drop their tails.
Meanwhile the same mother fucker bit my nose and I still have the scar to this day.
I had a pair, they were fine, then one day I woke up and there was only one, and a lot of blood, and then it stopped eating and would fill its food bowl with piss and eventually died.
I don't think I had anything to do with it, I kept them fed with gerbil food, and they always had plenty of water. But they were a few years old so at the end of their lifespan.

hamster death stories are a time-honored tradition of owning hamsters.

To be fair with a cat or dog you've got a solid 15-20 years barring accidents.
With a hamster you've got what, 2 years if you're lucky. Not exactly a lot of time to become a beloved member of the family.
Plus, almost no one is keeping hamsters as pets who aren't kids.
>>
Surprisingly based. God created hamsters to suffer.

Gerbil bites are no joke.
I feel bad that I dropped my childhood gerbils like half a dozen times reflexively after being bitten.
Cause of death: first ate through a bunch of plastic habitrail tubing, died from that. Second moved to different cage, all ventilation shafts were metal so no little vent ports to get ahold of on the plastic, died of old age I assume, she'd gotten old looking and it was a couple of years later.
Made the whole room smell of piss.

My mom and I laugh about it now.
I was getting ready to leave for school, and I picked my gerbil up to say good bye, and it jumped and latched right on the tip of my nose. I run out of my room screaming, my mom comes in, sees a gerbil on my face and blood everywhere, and she's freaking out and trying to unhook this things teeth.
Finally get it off, cleaned up, and I show up late to class with this big bandage on my nose

>With a hamster you've got what, 2 years if you're lucky
People get attached to a puppy in like a week.
>>
Didn’t know parents being drunk and killing your hamster was such a common source of trauma for children :(
My dad suffocated my elderly pet cat in front of me and I tried to stop him but he was too strong. Not hamster but that’s my “damn that is fucked up as an adult” story

At least it didnt suffer

The smaller the animal the more awful a human will be to it. Sigh.

The hamster live in a cage at home, it doesn't live in the house with you like a dog, you don't take it for a walk , on a vacation, can't get him to watch a movie with you while hugging cause it's very fragile
>>
>>5145365
Yes he did you heathen. We live in the best of worlds and hamsters are suffering, thus they were created to suffer.

A puppy or kitten requires more attention than a hamster.
