My dog killed one of my pet rats :/ Will the other one be okay on his own?
>>
No. Rats are never ok on their own.

When I was a kid I had a pair of gerbils and when one died the other stopped eating and would fill her food bowl with gerbil piss and one morning I woke up to find her tits up in the cedar chips.
But I don't have much experience with rats (i don't want something with that much personality that has that short of a lifespan), maybe they're different.

Kill the dog.
Get another rat.
Future issues solved.

Feed the other rat to the dog

Then feed this guy to the rats to balance your karma

It’s a rat. A dog should not be put down for killing a rat. Dogs are predators and for most of the species 40,000 year history with us, the average dog was able to catch its own food. Usually rats, mice, pigeons, rabbits, cats, etc. I don’t think dogs should be put down unless they show a willingness to kill another dog or attack a person unjustifiably. Others animals are well, just what they eat, and a lot of the time they’re also what we eat. If some retard wants to keep a universally eaten animal like a rat alongside a dog, if the rat dies it’s the owners fault for being that fucking retarded. Everything eats rats. Owning a rat and a dog is basically threatening a rat with instant death every single day of its life.

Pitbull owners on the other hand are delusional and believe the value of the virtue they show by rescuing an unwanted "misunderstood" dog is greater than the value of a child’s life. And apparently, many compare it to fighting racism and think bring prejudiced against pitbulls magically makes someone a nazi. Per leftist theory their stance actually makes sense, and there’s literally no talking them out of it.

>>Rats need companionship
That really sucks anon, you need to look after yourself and your buddies
Reconsider your free roam area and make sure your dog can't get in, he's acting on instinct and you need to keep him away when they're out

Dog kills a pet
>dude, its the natural state of a dog!
Where's the limit?
Parrot?
Kitten?
Toddler?
That dog is a liability.
If it killed another pet that shared the same household for months or years then on the atreet its an unpredictable loose cannon.
That dog is a liability that needs to be put down.

To clear things up, it was a female rottweiler who killed the rat. Not a pitbull.

It. Is. A. Rat. Moron.

I kill rats. Everything kills rats. Animals do not gain universal value because some retarded human is keeping vermin or livestock as a pet. They are always what they are irregardless of your ideology (definition: borderline spiritual beliefs detached from reality). If you keep rats or chickens or cats in close proximity to an animal that is capable of eating them and does eat them in nature, you are stupid.

I draw the line at other dogs, above pitbulls. Cats, rats, chickens, rabbits are natural prey and often food for humans. Pitbulls are less than dogs and somewhere around rats. I also support an initiative to change chinese meat dogs to pitbulls, of course.

Let me ask you a question - would you kill a cat if it ate your mouse? Your budgie? Would you kill a cat if it ate your goldfish?

>a dog killed a rat. a toddler will be next.
Kids have accompanied dogs on rabbit, badger, pig, etc hunts since the dawn of time. You know humans are predators right? We eat animals. Dogs are predators. We get along because we killed all the dogs that attack people (and then pitbull breeders saved them).
Ridding us of pests like rats is part of the dogs ongoing purpose. A good dog can keep a property totally free of rats.

Well, indians don’t eat meat but they have the smallest brains on earth as a result of doing that long term.

At the point it causes actual harm, so somewhere between the cat and toddler.

cats are fair game with any real hunting breed
like i’d be concerned if a soft mouthed golden retriever was killing cats but not a greyhound
and also behavior
like getting up against cats, snarling, and ripping into them dog fight style. that’s not normal. it would mean the dog was socialized with cats but still attacked them. the cat would have to have a reputation for attacking the dog for the dog to be excused. but a dog that stalked and pounced at cats, chased them, and seemed to be having a fun time despite the deadliness and succulent chinese meal result would be acting 100% normal.
