To eliminate suffering you must understand it and see that it's purpose provides experience to your life. To avoid interacting with something just because it's life is more transient than yours, is pure solipsism. You are doing nothing but chasing making yourself feel good and making sure you experience no suffering.

I think it's a lot to do with humans really being far away from death, too far in the modern world
Back in the older times death was all around, it was mournful but also just a part of how things are

Now we're so insulated from it when it happens It devastates us

After 2 years since it's adoption, i saw my hamster lose half it's weight overnight. And all that remained was a completely flat, rock solid, mummified corpse. It seems to have dispensed all moisture instantly and died.

Pet die, human gets sad and within that sad time gets another pet or gets gifted one and moves on, it's terrible
