>>5148881I had a library book about vampires as a kid and there was a chapter on these at the end. The picture was really bad just like a black silhouette which made it look more like Bat from the Great Mouse Detective but that was ten times scarier than any depiction I’ve seen. Scared the beejesus out of me as a young child. I used to have trouble sleeping and imagine them rowing over to the UK

>>5149104the first description of the chupacabras was from puerto rico (pic related) and it stayed like that until 2000something when an indie texan company made a cheap movie about the chupacabras which was just a dog in a very cheap suit, after that texans claimed seeing this dog/chupacabra which was nothing but coyotes with mange or xoloitzcuintle dogs that belonged to mexicans around the zone, and of course the texans killed them and exhibited them as legit chupacabras.
I dont know why we even need the "mangy coyote" justification when native mexican dogs look like this

My first exposure to the chupacabra was a book that had this image in it and I was so immensely disappointed when I found out it was never described as this and was either just cartoon green alien or a coyote
