I wish I got to see the Great Auk or Haast's eagle
Dinosaurs and land crocs. It's a shame all we got out of that lineage are birds and modern crocs and alligators. Marine reptiles get an honorable mention too.

Speaking of animals no one talks about. Did you know there was an island cave goat called Myotragus balearicus, that might have been the only cold blooded mammal in history to exist? and it's also the only goat species to have front facing eyes? This is because it lived in the island caves for millions of years, and the cave habitat caused it to evolve similarly to how amphibians and reptiles have? The Sardinian Pika was the last member of an ancient lineage of lagomorphs that was somewhat related to modern pikas thought to have gone extinct around 2000 years ago, but may have persisted until the 1700s.I guess it wouldn't be that special, but I'm annoyed that this lineage may have died out right before it would've become known to science.>>5151739Why were its eyes front facing then?
