Hi animal pros I have this question itching my brain.
like 8 years ago I was on a campground south of Austin, Texas. One night sitting on a chair I noticed a few of these things, about the size of a fist, sniffing the ground near me.
I wasn't too close to the fire so I didn't get a good view in the light, but they were shaped like pic related and I think had grayish stripes over brown fur.
But when I moved my foot and it made a noise in the dirt, they took off extremely fast. and not like they started kicking and accelerating, I mean they hit top speed immediately, weren't stumbling, one ran over a tree branch and another behind some rocks as if they were part of the ground rather than obstacles.

I didn't hear these things make any noise, and I've seen normal wild boar piglets and they're usually larger, slim and longer, and are defenitely clumsy and make sounds.
I wasn't drinking, sleepy, or high, but no one else who was with me (most of them from that area) had any idea what I was talking about. I tried looking into the creatures of central texas and I can't seem to find such an animal.
Were these just really fast obese piglets?
