why does it hurt so much?
>>5155378The things that matter most hurt the most to lose. Sentimentality aside I think it's really funny how this post about dead pets is juxtaposed by an ad of a woman in a thong shaking her ass. Thank you hiromoot.

>>5155378It is my opinion that most people have a fairly set in stone emotional depth. A limit to how intense there emotions can be, essentially. If you have a massive capacity for love, then you have too a massive capacity for emotional pain. I’m sorry to hear it hurts, anon, but it’s probably because you are good.

>>5155378because you cared for this creature for presumably a decade or more, lived alongside it daily and regularly saw how much it cared about youof course you're going to have a strong emotional connection to this animal. anyone that can be flippant about their pet dying is unrionically subhuman and lacks a soul
The Tao that can be understood is not the True Tao.
>>5155378The hurting is one of the good parts. In a couple years you'll forget your beloved and it won't hurt anymore, that's the truly sad part. Treasure this pain, it's the proof of your love.

She had autoimmune anemia caused likely by a lymphoma to the live and spleen. In her last two days she couldn't sleep, she could barely walk, nevermind eat or drink. She was only 7 years old. I know i helped her in the end with her pain, but i also feel like i killed my baby. I raised her since she was 3 weeks old, i cared for her and she cared for me when I was down. I can't believe she's gone. I just can't.
>>5155378Grief is the ultimate, the most genuine and honest expression of loveBe glad you grief, because it means you truly loveI'm sorry for your loss
>>5155378because you presumably loved your pet ?i remember my dog dying, not being affected at first and then seeing her splayed out in a blanket and it hit me that i was burying something i loved and cried like a bitch because i didnt want her to be alone.the best you can hope is that in a few years you mostly associate positive feelings with your pet than sadness at their absence whenever you think about them.
>>5155802>seeing her splayed outI'm the opposite. once they're actually gone its a lot better for me. its done, they're at peace. I still cry but its not as heart-wrenching as when they're still alive at the end dealing with whatever is killing them
>>5155521>In a couple years you'll forget your beloved and it won't hurt anymoreNot true at all. I still think of my childhood cat. He lived until we were both 15, knew him my whole life. He's been gone for nearly half my lifetime now, and sometimes I still have these dreams where he's still alive and well, then I wake up helplessly depressed to remember that he is not. The way he passed was just fucked up and unfair, not something a man can simply forget.>>5155587It sounds like you did the best you could for her, so you should have nothing to regret. There's nothing more you can do than your best, after all. Health is always just a diceroll, it wasn't your fault. She knew she was loved.>>5155625Very true. Grief is love that has nowhere to go.
>>5155378Just get another. It might not fill the exact space but if you're a good owner then it'll be a great substitute.

We got my cat when I was six or so and he lived until I was 18. I think about him often; he's part of my psyche. I have dreamed about him a few times. In the dream he's just... there, I feel his presence like he's right beside me. Then I wake up. I miss him terribly.
