If they find fossilized evidence for bacteria on Mars, would you care? Would you care if they found living bacteria deep underground? Would you care if they found sea vent bacteria in Europas oceans?
Yes.But I'd stop caring if it turned out to have originated on Earth. I'd only care if life evolved independently on Mars/Europa, because if that is the case then it means a single solar system has evolved life multiple times and that has huge implications on how common life is in the rest of the universe.
Yes but extraterestial life is probably more fun to speculate about than any evidence we can feasibly obtain. I wonder what type of life will develop on Europa when our sun exits its main sequence and europa enters the habital zone. Or speculating about the exoplanets and the potential for life on the ones we detected.Life on mars would fuel further speculation.
