So you're telling me there's enough food in the deep ocean to support not only the existence of swarms of colossal squid, but also massive predators like Sperm Whales diving down and eating the colossal squids themselves?

You're telling me that every night swarms of colossal squids migrate to the shallow levels of the water to hunt and feast on the day-time marine life that lives there permanently?
And they supposedly survive these daily attacks from below long enough to breed and multiply? And they do this continuously, without rest?

What the fuck is the ocean? How does any of this make sense?

Because we don't actually know shit about ocean life in the midnight zone and below.
For instance, large whites hunt big squids in the open ocean, staying at depths of hundreds of meters at all times. We only ever see them when they come to give birth in the shallow nurseries. Which was what Blue was doing before she fucked off again. These whites have their heads torn up by squid hooks.
So when that 4 meter Mako was bit in half, and that smaller white was swallowed whole? Massive great whites that spend their adult life far away from any human activity. All we know about the species are from youngsters who hunt near the shore.

Some fag pointed out that one reason we don't see anything when we do put cameras down there is because the white light we use scare them off, potentially blinding animals own there. That we should be using red light if we want to capture life on film.

its funny how most of the biggest predators in the ocean have a strong preference for calamari. I can see the appeal. It's good, clean, lean protein.

Marine snow is the lynchpin of most deep ocean life being in bulk generated by copepods feeding off plankton closer to the surface at night. There is an absolute ton of this activity occuring on daily basis well outside areas on the oceanic conveyors which is where the other 90% of ocean life is centralized.

whales die and become food to other species and those species become food for the whales, this process is called the lion king or something, I didn't watch the movie.

how does a big whale even catch a squid? aren't whales slow as fuck and squids lightning quick?
>>
>>5155863
No their speeds are pretty comparable the sperm whale has it beat by something like a 1-2/10ths of mph but apparently that's enough

It's crazy to me that people will get in the water with something that could both eat them and shoot them to death with sonic beams
