The best you're going to do is train the cat not to get on the counters WHEN YOU'RE AROUND. You have to have consistent feedback to train a cat. I've seen people do things like wired a noise-maker to a motion sensor and left that on the counter, so any time the cat jumped out there they were met with loud noises and flashing lights that spook them. that being said, my cat is actually really good about staying off counters. He'll get up there, but usually only to sniff at his bag of catfood I keep on the edge of the counter near his dish. His pain in the ass thing is my mantle. I used to keep pictures of my parents and sister, and the urn with my old cat's ashes, but this guy is offended by anything being on that mantle, and I've had to put all that shit other places.

Hey /kot/. I had to put down my buddy today. He just got so sick so suddenly, and none of the meds he got prescribed were enough to help. We were planning on doing outpatient and giving him more meds but suddenly the vet came back with the xrays and told us it's not good, that he could die any day, and that he's likely in pain. I was actually feeling pretty optimistic because he had started eating more and more food again but nope. It just caught me so off guard bros, he was only 10 years old, I thought I had another 4-6 years at least. He was such a fucking good pet, I couldn't have asked for a better cat. I'm beyond devastated. He wasn't clingy but he still loved us and would hang out in the room with us or cuddle (only on his terms). I loved how he put up kind of a stoic tough guy act but he was secretly a huge softie who loved getting his belly rubbed and his face massaged. Fuckin A bros it hurts to cry, I've cried so much today. I think it's going to be a really long time before I'm able to get over him being gone. I keep thinking I see him around the house in all the places he used to hang out. RIP Rex. I love you so much man. Sorry for the blog post, I just haven't told any of my close friends yet and wanted to shout that into the ether to get it all out, hope that's okay. They were quite anemic because of fleas and had mild eye infections.I wasn't planning on taking home any kittens that day, I was taking a friend with his(now divorced lmao) wife to have a look, but they had an argument on the way there and didn't show up and this little rascal approached me, nested herself in my lap and I really still don't understand how, but on some level I understood she chose me and took her home and this past year has definitely been a tiring but surprisingly rewarding journey..

I've seen a lot of these "rescue an injured cat" videos come up lately on youtube and I can't escape the feeling that some animals may have been injured on purpose for the video. Particularly with the sappy repetitive music playing the whole time. The one I just watched, they spent like a full minute filming this badly injured cat just twitching on the ground before they moved to rescue him, then took him to the vet. All through the recovery he looked horrified and frightened. Then suddenly he was looking happy and trustful at the end. Gave me a very bad feeling. Am I just being paranoid?

Because my Yuki died from heart failure at just under 5 years old, I just had an echocardiogram done for my nearly 3 year old Sumi. Her heart wall is starting to thicken. I'm going to have her checked again in 6 months.I am never EVER using this breeder again. 3 kittens, 2 died before they were 7, and Sumi is not trending in a positive direction to buck that trend...I still will never go with any other breed. Maine Coons are the best.
