by what criteria? define success and its context, failure

for example, a whale might successfully hunt tens or hundreds of thousands of krill with each mouthful, multiplied by a hundred year lifespan or whatever. I don't know what animal has the most babies in its lifespan but it's probably not that dog you posted. If success means being able to kill anything it decides to, and involves taking over nearly the entire planet, then humans would be the most successful predator.
