Definitely the only interesting encounter I've had with a venomous snake, I live in texas now so I've seen rattle snakes slithering away, and one rattled at me once. The only other memorable snake encounter was watching my step dad blast a boa constrictor out of a tree (I didn't know he hated fucking snakes). But this was south georgia, so it was kind of interesting knowing that the snake was probably someone's pet in florida that got loose.

The mantis species that tend to attempt hummingbirdicide also seem mostly to be beefier ones than lived around that area, and I can't really imagine the mantises we had being desperate enough to try something that insane with all the shit flying and crawling around that yard everyday.
