>dog gets diagnosed with pyometra >she also has a small ball shaped tumor on her vagina which closed it off and prevents any of the built up fluids caused by the pyometra to leak out>vet says she'd need to see a specialist and it would cost 8k>vet also said my dog is old and her knees are slowly dislocating Should I just euthanize her? Don't want her to die but at the same time I wonder if it's worth getting the surgery just for her to die of old age a year from now, that is if she even survives the surgery.
>>5160149Yes it's her time anon. If she can't walk and has pyo then it's best if she doesn't have to suffer.
>>5160149genuinely have to ask what the fuck part of that procedure costs 8k? it's crazy how inflated pet healthcare is
>>5160303No, she CAN walk, but the vet said that her knees are starting to go out. She walks just fine but she has been struggling standing on her hind legs like she used too. >>5160397They claimed that they would need to do the surgery to remove her ovaries and uterus along with removing the tumor and then reconstructing the area so she could pee normally, all of this needs to be done by a specialist which is why it's so expensive. They also offered a cheaper option where they'll do the procedure but only remove half of the tumor, and I guess not do as good a job at reconstructing it? Which would cost 3k.
>>5160408>half the tumor for half the moneythis feels like a simpson joke.
>>5160412Yes it sounded ridiculous when I heard it but apparently those are their only options, thinking of just going to another vet honestly.
>>5160413Get a second opinion for sure
>>5160408Can you remove the other half yourself before they stitch her back up?
>>5160149look into esoteric cures
It is time. Sorry anon.
>>5160433>>5163347>>5163348We put her down. It was too much. Her eyes were cloudy, her knees were beginning to pop out of their sockets, and she would walk in a very stiff, almost mechanical way, clearly she was in pain while walking. Her teeth were brown, she had a vaginal tumor and a new tumor growing in her chest, she had pyometra, she would vomit a lot of pus when taken out to walk, she would get these hacking coughs, especially at night, sometimes it sounded like she was burping or snorting really loudly. It sucks but yeah, it had to be done, still trying to get adjusted and coming to terms with her not being here anymore, like walking into my room at night and not seeing her at her bed or coming home and her not being there at the door to greet me, or having to open the back door for her so she could go outside. Plus, it's the first dog I've kept till old age, so this is kind of new for me.
>>5163384You did the right thing. Sounds like her time on this earth with you and your family was amazing, and you loved her very much.
>>5163384I had to put down a dog two months ago, it was extremely hard to do but he would've suffered otherwise. You did the right thing and gave her a great life. My dog had a large ball-shaped tumor as well but it was benign.
Had two of my mom's dogs cease to exist this summer. Dog one was run over by a neighbor and we took him to the vet. Broken pelvis, keep him isolated and he should heal up and get better. After a couple days it was obvious he was not getting better. Took him back to the vet and there was more internal stuff going on than they had originally thought. Brought him home and put him down. Dog#2 got run through a swather by the neighbor. Not much left but a mangled sack of meat... At least there was no vet bill with that one, and it was over in about .5 seconds, so zero suffering.
>>5163741Wtf, was this the same neighbor?
>>5163815Neighbors Mexican irrigator ran over the 1st one driving through the yard to get to one of their fields. he was going slow and the dogs were barking at him and the young inexperienced one just ended up under the tire. Shit happens.Neighbor himself hit the dog with the swather. She shouldn't have been in the field and no idea why she didn't leave when the giant header full of spinning blades of death was coming for her... Field was some 7' tall haygrazer so not like he could see her in there at all. Farm dogs live shorter lives. The risks of death are everywhere. But they also get to run through fields and meadows and chase rodents any chance they wish, so they live very fulfilled lives as well.
>>5160149try to find some plantain in your yardgrow comfrey and figure out if dogs can eatturmeric and black pepper if they can feed herthat. it will help probablyand i mean that. im not trying to joke aroundim limited to what work i can do on sunday buti want to answer this now.well its going to be gross but make a comfrey orplantain tea very concentrated and draw a bath for herthe tap water is horrible.if you have a creek use that even if it has algaeand poop or whatever else in it it is so much betterthe tap water might not even be worth itmix the very concentrated comfrey/plantain/combo teainto the bath wateryou want to apply the medicine just let hersoak in itif you can then put some hemp grease on her tumorthis is the part where if you really want to help then you haveto just target that thing with the intent to get rid of it and let love be your heart and mind and champion love and getrid of the blight.the idea with turmeric and black pepper and it has to be freshcracked black pepper is that it will clear out zombie cellsand really help reduce inflammationget her some crossvine and feed her nettles and maybeeven use urtication very rarelylook up if dogs can eat these herbs, most of the time they canand even stuff like garlic isnt the worstraisins/grapes are bad dont feed her those butthese herbs have amazing healing properties.you can refine your technique and use better herbsthe allantoin should help the body work that area outit has healed complex damage on my own bodythats what is in comfrey and plantainshe can also probably eat the plantain and it would probably helphowever comfrey may or may not be damaging with its kit of PAsuse comfrey topically though because its incredible.you can buy these herbs on etsy and you can grow them yourselfyou likely have plantain in your yard right nowthere are a lot of things that can help i strongly feel that cancercan be outright cured with the right herbs
>>5160149I would pay for her surgery if she were mine.
>>5160149>dog is sick and oldIt's time.
>>5160149Back in the day if there was something wrong with an animal, you'd just knock it over the head and be done with it, now there's an industry to scam a shitton of money out of emotionally weak bitches like OP
>>5160397Health care for pets is overly inflated because they know that youll pay.
>>5163384Im sorry anon. She lived her best life and she has you to thank for that
>>5160397That's antisemitic goy
>>5164040Bit late for that.
>>5163384I know it may sound a bit screwed up, but you did the right thing by putting her down she was old and very sick, any time she had left would've been spent in painyou made sure she didn't have to experience that painyou are a good owner, anon, I'm glad your dog was in the hands of someone responsible and caring
>>5163854Anon can you recommend me a good farmer dog breed, I'm a first time owner so a medium sized easy to handle dog would suffice.
>>5166339We also used to just leave retards like you out in the woods when you were an infant but sadly times change
>>5168538Honestly most dog breeds are pretty good. I'd avoid pitbulls obviously. Cow dog breeds like blue heeler, McNabs, Australian shepards, and border collies are good but mostly higher energy, pyrenees breeds are good but a bit more independent by nature. German Shepards can be amazing dogs too. I'm partial to labs and lab mixes. Worst part about my yellow lab is he is one of the itchy bois and sheds a ton of friggin hair in the garage... I think it'd be neat to have a rat terrier or borzai as well. Mutts are always hard to beat too, and usually can be had cheap. Some of the best and most loyal dogs I ever had were just straight up mutts.
