This is cladogram piece is apparently from the gameplay demo for Planet Zoo 2 held yesterday, how did they fuck it up this badly?

>Mulam Venbasho
>Pic of a Tree Kangaroo on corner
>Elephants are the closest relatives of humans
>Cats are more closely related to Marsupials than they are seals
>The horse is a unicorn
AI or human retardation?
I can find an accurate mammal cladogram in less than a minute by just searching online for one, so I don't understand how either AI or humans can be so wildly wrong.
>>
>>5160950
Planet Zoo NPCs speak a made up nonsense language like simlish. And those are the horse's ears, genius.
>>
>>5160950
wait, are perissodactyls actually more closely related to carnivorans than they are to artiodactyls? are ungulates actually polyphyletic? why did no one tell me?
>>
>>5160446
>>5160950
I honestly think it's human retardation (the sign, not the Simlish lite). The last time Frontier tried to introduce something AI, generating the human scientist portraits in JW Evolution 3, people did NOT like it and Frontier changed it before release in response. I think they get, at minimum, that people don't respond well to that.
>>
>>5160438
Other than monotremes being the outgroup to other mammals not a single relationship in this chart is correct, impressively bad.
>>
>>5160976
Fuck you just reminded me of this indie game i bought quite long ago that, years after release and my purchase, swapped the animated human-made portraits for STABLEDIFFUSION SLOP and never switched it back and Steam refused to refund me no matter how much i bitched
Never trust three Filipino guys with your video gaming experience

These are tiny decorative items you will never focus on in normal gameplay. They're just supposed to look 'science-y,' not be informative.
>>

Why make them wrong in the first place?
>>
>>5161038
>>
>>5160967
there's no strict consensus. Certain phylogenies place cetartiodactyla as sister to Ferae, other recover ungulates as monophyletic

The game still needs dinosaurs and the odd cryptid to be perfect
>>
>>5161889
I agree. Realism is fine and all, but when I was a kid playing Zoo Tycoon 1 the 'mystery' elements had an appeal all their own. When you unlocked Bigfoot or Unicorns, it felt like you hacked the game.

I'm excited for the game but if you've been following the reveals the roster is pretty worrying so far. North America, South America, and Australia have had barely any animals shown and if they try to lock an animal as staple as kangaroos behind DLC again then I'm out.
>>
>>5161889
>>5161929
that's not realistic though

>>5161834
Normies want GTA, autists know the true GOATs coming out this fall are planet zoo 2 and transport fever 3.
>>
>>5162014
I don’t understand this complaint. Over 100 animals with detailed 3D models and behavior is no small feat and of course the concentration is going to be on Asia and Africa since that is where all the famous animals live.
>>
>>5161889
Get Prehistoric Kingdom. It’s like Jurassic Park but realistic instead of Sci Fi. It leaves early access at the beginning of next year.
>>
>>5162039
>Over 100 animals with detailed 3D models and behavior is no small feat
I'm not expecting every animal on earth or even everything back from the first game, that doesn't mean there should be blatant holes in the roster where entire continents get barely any representation.
>of course the concentration is going to be on Asia and Africa since that is where all the famous animals live.
Irrelevant. I'm not saying other continents should have equal representation to Africa and Asia, but they should at least have the bare fucking minimum. And animals like kangaroos or capybaras are just as much of a zoo staple as lions or giraffes, there's no reason they should get left out again.
>>
>he didnt know that griffon vultures and unicorns are closely related
lmao sucks to suck

Is this confirmed? There's supposed to be 2 big updates left so I would expect the full release to be more like next summer.

Fuck dinosaurs but I would honestly love to see extinct animals from the past hundred years or so in the game. Thylacines, quaggas, passenger pigeons, Caribbean monk seals, etc.
All those animals literally were in zoos historically, if we lived in a better timeline they'd still be in zoos now. It'd be cool to get to right those past mistakes in the game.
>>
>>5162417
If i remember correctly this was an idea for Prehistoric Kingdom but i don't know if they are still doing it
>>
>>5162419
Sure, but the thing is unlike the dinosaurs or mammoths this is something that would actually fit better in Planet Zoo than in Prehistoric Kingdom. Like there's no reason a quagga shouldn't just be a normal zoo animal for your savannah exhibits if we weren't in the bad timeline. It doesn't belong with the dinosaurs.
>>
>>5162420
What do you think of Steller's sea cow in this context?
>>
>>5162421
Was never kept in zoos as far as I'm aware so I'm personally not interested.
>>
>>5162419
yes they are still doing it, first dlc after release
should have moa, quagga + tarpan (ice age horse), dodo, aurochs, great auk and thylacine with carolina parakeet and passenger pigeons as vivariums
i think it's a perfect selection, tho i'd have loved to see a giant lemur too
>>
>>5162466
I wish they would add modern animals that were alive back then. My ice age exhibits always feel incomplete because of the lack of saigas and such
>>
>>5162040
I do have Prehistoric Kingdom. I'm planning on playing it when they exit EA

The game is more than playable currently, the only things it's missing are animal breakouts (coming next update) and the campaign mode (coming with full release).
>>
>>5160967
Boomer detected!
>>
>>5162584
NTA but honestly the only thing really holding me back from going fully to PK is the fact that JWE has aviary and lagoon species. If PK ever adds those post-EA then maybe.
>>
>>5162584
Nipple hands
>>
>>5162626
PK does have some small flying and semi-aquatic animals as vivarium species. Maybe you don't like that they're stuck in a box but personally I find them way less limiting than the lagoons and aviaries are, at least you can turn the box invisible and make it look like they're in a real habitat if you want to. That's what I did with the Mononykus screenshot there and I think it works great.
>>
>>5162626
yes you'll have to wait for years surely, probably as full-fledged expansions just as zt2 used to do
jwe's aviary/marine species however kinda suck because they have even less interactivity than zt2 animals did
>>
>>5162669
It also requires that the game sells well enough to get continued development, according to the devs themselves. And given their statement I imagine that means current EA sales haven't been enough to meet that but I honestly can't imagine this game getting a significant boost at full release so I'm unfortunately not very optimistic on it, surely most of the people who are interested already got the game during EA?
>>
>>5162786
yeah honestly the devs haven't made very wise economical decisions. it stands as a very nice deal right now, at 20$ during sales is a steal for this kind of game. but it's a costly genre and it's been proven already that while it serves us players well the devs don't gain much. there's a reason they have a goddamn patreon open.
even worse is that there'll be a price hike on release, surely between the 40-50$ range, which will definitely upset the chunk of people that was waiting for full release all this time. they should have done it earlier already so at least this effect could have been mitigated, and regardless everyone wise will buy it now while it's still cheap.
they may recoup the costs with expansions but with 10$ pricing (not complaining myself lol) and the cost of making the new animals and assets it's not gonna be much i think.
a shame it comes down like this, because i really think it's the best zoo game in general and a nice blend of new and old game mechanics
>>
>>5162833
Was Nigel really worth it?
>>
>>5162669
The lagoon species I agree but they're kinda all fucked in that regard. The aviary species can at least break out and kill guests so they're slightly more interactive.
>>
New JWE3 DLC
>>
>>5162958
It fucking sucks, three useless glup shitto dinosaurs and two dinosaurs being resold from DLC in the last game. The only good thing about it is the new scenery set.
>>
>>5162959
Yangchuanosaurus is fairly popular and Nanshiungosuarus is nice as an accurate alternative to Therezinosaurus.
>>
>>5162961
I assume anything with a chinese name is just fake and made-up
>>
>>5162961
This game really didn't need a second therizinosaur, especially not one only known from vertebrae and pelvic bones, and Yangchuanosaurus was fairly generic and there's like seven other theropods in the game that already fill a similar niche. I don't give a fuck about what's popular with Redditors and their hecking nostalgic childhoods, it should add something besides having a D-list name. I've been following this series since it first came out back in 2018 and I've gotten so fucking tired of this repetitive shit. This game makes new dinosaurs feel so boring with how samey they feel at this point but I'm supposed to eat this accurate sloperino up just because they made one of them fluffy so manchildren can squeal at the babies. It sucks the most because Asia has a rich fossil record with a lot of unique species but they couldn't even pick three dinosaurs that would add anything. Deinosuchus and the extra Triassic species in the last DLC were more of a step in the right direction, one was a completely new rig while the game was lacking in Triassic animals. It sucks as well that it's been established at this point they'll keep reselling dinosaurs from the last game and they get locked behind shitty packs like this one.
>>
>>5163029
>This game really didn't need a second therizinosaur
Speak for yourself, I wanted at least one more on account that Therizinosaurus itself hates almost everything and almost everything hates Therizinosaurus. Though I would've picked Beipiaosaurus or Nothronychus personally
