whats the difference between jungles and rainforests? "theyre both in tropical/subtropical areas" i dont live in either and im near a rainforest whats actually different about them

There's no specific way to measure it, it's just means the speaker considers a particular piece of forest particularly thick.However, because the lower rainfall levels in the dry season leave trees smaller and thus let more light reach the floor and thus more vegetation grows there, if you wanted something more scientific you could use "jungle" as a colloquial term for a monsoon forest - ie a tropical forest in areas with a monsoon climate.
