There was a small dog, anxious and very wary of strangers. It was scared of me too the first time but I managed to befriend it. Afterwards I would visit yearly and it would go ballistic every time I showed up, like running around the house and doing 360 spins around you while whining and barking ballistic. Once I stayed for longer than a couple weeks and it figured out I would still be around and it started traveling to the guestroom I was staying at outside the main building and I would wake up first thing in the morning every other day to that dog "knocking" on my door with scratches and waiting to be let in. That was the one that really got me thinking about their memories.
