Do you like small Appalachian towns, they are the best. Middle of nowhere, the road followed the hill because the hill was there first, you walk until you're in nature without deciding to. The trees at the edges, birds chirping, and at dusk the porches come out, sweet tea, rain smell on asphalt, the whole place just sitting there between the ridge and the river not trying to be anything else.
>>5162572On one hand, I love them for the reasons you mentioned. They are a good balance between a civilized town and living in nature. It makes people appreciate nature. I will always choose to live in one.On the other hand, there are too many. They cause habitat fragmentation, wildlife corridor disruption, more human-wildlife conflict (which fuels support for wildlife destruction), and runoff and contamination from septic systems. Among other issues.Call me hypocritical but I wish less people lived in small towns and suburban neighborhoods, and more in dense cities to leave the rest of the land alone for other animals.
