Would you want to own a Zoo /an/? A realistic roadside zoo or a proper AZA accredited zoo, or anything inbetween? Would you have any ideas that you think would be revolutionary, or any animals you think should be exhibited in captivity more? Would you bother with pandas?Speculative Zoo Thread and discussion
Microbe Zoos should be as common as reptile houses and aviaries. No idea why they haven't caught on when they could probably be a very low-cost and space-effective way to pad out a zoo with more exhibits.
>>5163587>Would you have any ideas that you think would be revolutionary, or any animals you think should be exhibited in captivity more? One idea I had was making a zoo with explicitly only "ugly" and non-cute animals. Focusing on informing about their conservation and ecological role.
>One of the most bodiverse countries on the planet>Plenty of unique fauna>A government that would absolutely not give two shits if you took their animals>Completely unrepresented in zoos outside of MAYBE a BinturongI don't get it.
>>5163620>WOAH dude is that 500 endemic species of shitty identical rats? >we need to put these all in zoos NOW!!! Sub-Saharan Africa is the only place on the planet with animals worth paying to see in an enclosure>what about orangu-wretched ugly beasts, should all be killed
seems like an extremely large amount of work, maybe some rehabbingdont even think you can legally keep new world vultures outside of rehabbing, though you CAN just keep feeding them until they domesticate themselves, seems like a common loophole
>>5163615This sounds sick as fuck and I legit travel anywhere on earth to visit it
>>5163589propably because you can't see anything move, it's more like an art exhibit
>>5163587A zoo with animals often seen as pests. Coyotes, foxes, mice, raccoons, possums, etc. Could even have local predators like wolves or cougars depending on the location. It wouldn't be anything special but its purpose would be to give people education and positive experiences with animals they have a chance of encountering. The hope is that they will treat them better and know what to do in those situations.I'm guessing it wouldn't have to properly accredited if it just has small animals that live in the area anyways. It might if it has the larger predators.
>>5163818Also a kickass idea
>>5163587I already own multiple zoos anon
