I've got the edition with Odd John and Sirius.
Very underrated godfather of scifi and he does a wonderful (and very uncomfortable) job at portraying non/post human intelligence.
Also pic related, sort of an anthology series with the framing device that humanity has long vanished and dogs are the dominant form of life (tended to by the housekeeping robots of humanity).

I read this in school for the nerd club for creative weirdos.
Also it was one of those books Mike Brady read in the brady bunch.
Personally I always preferred "The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah," by Bach. I really like the way it flips your perspective on things.
Like when he talks about how everyone is born knowing how to play an instrument, but you need to practice for a while before you remember (which is just to say you learn to play an instrument the regular way but you shift your perspective).

This was the first book I read, start to finish.

Pls dont ruin this book for me and make jokes about the cover depicting a black man with a half naked boy.

I'm guessing manga counts
Really fun series, despite the wildly inaccurate elephant sized bears and wolves that can create tornadoes and have prehensile manes. The sequels good too besides the moralfag mc

There was a really funny author named Patrick McManus that did a bunch of books with old redneck stories from his upbringing (some true, some embellished). Most of them were hunting/fishing/outdoors/animal-centric. Fucking hilarious stories. True theater of the mind.

This thread reminds me of when I read these two books back to back in grade school. I thought it was novel reading about the exact same premise from different authors, but I don't remember too much from the books themselves.

Huh. Didn't know The Tiger who came for a Pint was actually an homage to a real kids book.

Don't remember ever seeing a thread about natural history on /lit/, while here they appear from time to time.
If you want some recommendations I have recently read:
-J.G. Vaughan C.A. Geissler "The New Oxford book of food plants" (A pretty well illustrated atlas of various edible plants).
-Michael J. Benton "when life nearly died" and "extinctions" (former focused on the great dying/permian-triassic extinction, latter on extinctions in general).
-Richard Fortey "trilobite eyewitness to evolution" (general overview of trilobites with some history of palaeontology and author's anecdotes. Besides this he wrote some more books on natural history which I didn't read yet so I can't comment on those).
