You would've lost your shit were you me or my wife walking home from a world cup game. We were set upon by a black witch moth. They're huge. I just thought "neat, a big-ass moth" and my wife mistook it for a bat at first and was startled a second but got over it when she noticed it didn't move like a bat.
>>5164220Honestly, I've only ever encountered smaller moths. The biggest ones being smaller than my thumb, lengthwiseI don't know how I'd react to ones the size of my hand. I don't mind birds or bats getting in my face. I've also let Tarantulas walk over my hand, though it probably helps they don't fly

I was a bit skittish until I found this one out in the rain. When I picked it up, its fur reminded me of a dog or a cat (just don't rub your eyes afterward).
>>5164213How can you even be afraid of it? It is a little flying puppy! They mostly don't have any chewing mouthparts to bite in their adult stage. At worst some adult lepidopterans are toxic to eat for predators. Butterflies also sip on blood and shit with their proboscis so there's also that
