Which animals are much bigger than you previously thought? I always assumed that okapis were about the size of a donkey or an average deer
>>
Though I've seen them in person, I always forget how ginormous a moose actually is.
>>
What about the opposite: I was staying with a friend in colorado, he has a house in the mountains, and Isaw my first black bear in the wild, and I genuinely thought it was just a really fat dopey black lab until it got closer.
>>
I always assumed they were about the size of a hare
>>

that's why they say this
>>
>>5165629
>>5165763
even so they still kill people in north america each year
>>
>>5165618
well they're basically giraffes so it makes sense
>>
i mean it IS in the name, but still
>>
>>5165886
No they don't. Since 1900, they've killed 67 people. That's all. In 126 years, they've killed one person roughly every 687 days. That's almost two years. 43 people have been killed by dogs in 2025 in just the US alone. Dogs kill more people in 19 months than black bears have killed in 1500 months.

these things have huge dicks
>>
>>5165917
So what you are saying is that they still kill people in the US then
>>
>>5165939
Don't backpedal on
>each year
or try to move goalposts just because you were wrong.
>>
>>5165942
My bad i'm NTA and i didn't read the "each year" part
>>
>>5165907
Were you also surprised that it eats ants?

there's a guy in my town that has some bactrian camels he walks around and they're huge, probably 8 feet tall. I always thought they were horse size.

There are over 100 million dogs in NA. Are there 100 million black bears? Are there remotely even close to that? Are you a negro? Would you be incapable of understanding per capita?
>>
>>5166015
Jesus Christ, you're retarded.
>>
>>5166019
No you are a negro then. Figures.
>>
>>5166021
Such a dummy.
>>
>>5165757
Ohh wow,, same.

Before I found out what they looked like I had no idea tuna fish were as massive as they are, I thought they were just like little salmon fellas.

This shocked me at first too, Albatross are so massive that they can't even land properly, they just slow down as much as possible and slam into the ground.
>>
For most of my life I imagined pigs as being the size of dogs only to learn that they're much bigger.
>>
>>5166142
Depends on the breed. Micro pigs are roughly the size and weight of large dogs, 75-150lbs. But yeah, people expect micros to be the size of kittens because unscrupulous breeders marketed them by only showing videos and photos of piglets and calling them cute things like teacup pigs, These Little Piggies, Pennywell Pocket Pigsâ„¢ and so on. If you want a real shock, look up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogzilla

I always have the inverse feeling when I see a snow leopard in real life, they're actually so much smaller than how they look in pictures.
>>
I remember thinking Emperor Penguins were huge, but they're only like 2.5 feet tall.
