What is the smartest animal?
>>5166288Definitely not cats lmfao
>>5166288https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animals_by_number_of_neurons#Forebrain_(cerebrum_or_pallium)_onlyFor some reason sperm whales aren't included in the list, even though they have bigger forebrains than orcas (the biggest actually), but I think they're the smartest. They greet each other with a "click click....click click click" sound and they do it to humans too. If you ever look up sperm whale/human interactions they never attack us. even at the height of the whaling period in the 1800's sperm whales only ever attack the ships but they don't target sailors in the water. these things could easily kill us with their sonar waves alone and yet they don't.They're quite curious about us too, many of them like to get really close to divers to get a better "scan" of them, or to look with their eye. Some of the divers even touch them and they don't show any signs of aggression. I like them a lot so maybe I'm biased lole, but yeah im voting sperm whale.
>>51662881: Rats2: Dolphins3: Everyone elseIt's been settled.
>>5166314My favorite fact about them is that their "scans" on people are powerful enough to be felt through your organs, and even that just a fraction of the full strength of their sonar because they dial down the intensity of it for us - otherwise it will just vibrate us into mushy bits
>>5166288Human
hard to quantify intelligence, so problem solving wise? dolphins/large whales and great apes mostlyhyenas are very high up on that list as are most social scavengers too
I don't like it when they kill the whales.
>>5166342>>5166314I had no idea sonar waves could even hurt a person.Sperm whales seem really cool.
>>5166533When the army is doing submarine exercises the populace isn't allowed to swim because the sonar could fuck you up. Animal sonars are the same, and in theory if they vibrate it at the right frequency they can target specific organs to pop.
>>5166288Rabbits. Case closed.
>>5166343How many wars did nonhuman animals start?
>>5166314>>5166342>>5166550Do they actually have a sense of their own power and intrinsically understand that being too loud can kill those funny land guys or is it a case where they killed someone at some point in history and then his tribe took revenge so they learned to be careful and pass that knowledge down? Also, do they use the sonar for combat or hunting?
Domestic pig. Corvidae. Cetaceans. Certain Cephalophods. In no particular order.
>>5166633I like to think that they do, although I have no proof lol. But given that nobody has been killed by their sonar (yet), I think they understand on some level that it's very dangerous to living creatures, so they try to be gentle with their scans. There was a myth floating around that they use it to stun squid before closing in on them but that hasn't really been proven.
>>5167073and yes they do use it for hunting collosal squid, sorry.
>>5166569More than you can count. Apes war, monkeys war, ants war, probably a lot of other social animals
>>5166314If they are so smart why didnt they make trains and opiods?!?
>>5166638Pigs are dumber than german shepherds and most large dogs really (maybe not mastiffs/labs/bulldogs/sighthounds, those are very dumb)
>>5167120Trains don't work under the sea because the smokestack gets flooded Opioids there's no excuse. They should have invented those
idk about smartest but these fellas are way smarter than people realize
