Anyone else here raising quail. I kind of had them foisted onto me and then started getting invested. Is it better to go for battery cages or a small apiary, cost and efficiency wise? Right now I'm using a few 4 sq foot cages, but just had a decent hatch so I'm going to have to find a way to expand.
what kind of sick depraved animal foists quails on another person?
>>5166849This is a post about quails not my relationships
>>5166824An apiary is a beehive so yes.
>>5166824Aren’t they constantly afraid of everything

>>5166824For me, I like to let my livestock roam free and let my dog take care of them. I have one huge coop all the birds (ducks, geese) sleep in at night but other than that they’re just free to roam and if a fox shows up, my geese engage and call out to my dog to deal with the fox. Before I had this system with my guard geese I was losing birds constantly. If you don’t have geese and a trusty dog idk just get a big coop for these quail and have nest boxes for them to sleep in, the individual battery cages don’t sound good. I’m imagining a quail alone in a 4x4 dog crate, sounds kind of shitty but maybe quails would like a cozy setup like that? Idk how much quails like to run around and forage or if they’re content to chill in their cage all day.But if you have the property and want to expand just free the quails, let them be free and they’ll come home to their hutch or coop or whatever roost in the evening. How many quails we talkin?
>>5166849Nta but I got some birds when a friend's neighbor's house burned down and the old guy died trying to rescue his dog and they didnt know what to do with the birds afterwards so I took them.Bet you werent expecting that.Dont be so quick to judge.
