I glanced outside my window not half an hour ago on this golden Sunday evening, when my gaze fell upon a shrivelled, greyish lump on the middle tier of our back garden. If it were a bird, I thought to myself, perhaps it has injured a wing and could use a hand!I went outside to investigate, whereupon I found myself, sure as the day is long, at the foot of a dead pigeon! Now, I can't say I was close to the fellow. Frankly, we never met! That being said, there was one thing that just utterly confounded me so; how did this thing die?The pigeon was lying on it's chest, wings rather close to it's chest, with it's head and neck more or less between them, looking rather normal. There did appear to be blood, but only smattered around the tip of it's beak and a small radius around it. We live in a very rural area, our garden backs into the woods, no fences, our cat had been inside with us all afternoon and the pigeon, when I put it in a bin bag, was still warm. In terms of birds of prey we get maybe buzzards, red kites, kestrels, barn and tawny owls at night, maybe a sparrowhawk or hobby. I saw nothing on it's corpse to indicate that it had been attacked, so I despair. What killed the pigeon? Are we on the brink of a new bird flu? Am I patient zero or a schizo patient?YOU decide.
>>5167428Could have been fucked up by a crow or slammed into a fence/tree like a retard.
>>5167428I once had one decapitate itself with my room's window frame during a storm
>>5167428How long do you think the life expectancy of a pigeon is?Do you think pigeons are magically teleported to a secret burial ground when their time is near?
>>5167428I like these little tards... Humans should take responsibility, since we abandoned them.
>>5167428Could have been attacked by a bird of prey and crash landed in your garden, it happens sometimes in my backyard with my neighbors doves, there are kites literally every day hoping to catch them. Usually my cats end their suffering if I don't spot the bird them right away
>>5167428it's = it isits = possessive e.g. its chestI'm an ESL ffs
>>5167428>There did appear to be blood, but only smattered around the tip of it's beak and a small radius around itWas it close to a window? Otherwise it probably overdosed eating strawberry jam.Why didn't you take any pictures? This is an imageboard, after all.
