I want to bring 2 strays to my house. They're 6 months old, sisters. Any advice on how to potty train them easily? I don't know much about cats other than petting & feeding them.
>>5168083Cats will usually figure it out unless you have other things that happen to look more suitable to shit in than the litterbox, if you aren't planning on keeping them exclusively indoors they might just beg to go out whenever they have to go though.
>>5168083My wife and I brought in a semi-stray kitten and he figured out to shit in the litterbox on his own (he was used to shitting in dirt). Cats figure things out. The most important thing is to socialise them well and make sure you have enough food, water, toys and litterboxes for them that you clean regularly.
>>5168083They sell cat-attracting litter, which presumably has some chemical precursors to urine in it that cats can pick up on and go "oh we piss here," but the material of the litter itself is usually enough for them to understand that that's where they go to the bathroom, because they can dig in it/cover their piss and shit. That said, get bigger boxes than you'd expect, because they WILL reject a box that's too small, and get one more than the number of cats you have so they have options. It may be a good idea to leave a little pee and poop in there when you clean, as well, to reinforce that THE BOX is the spot where that goes, and not "in the general area around the box"\Most cats pick up this shit within about 5 or six weeks of being born, so I wouldn't expect much trouble.
