My boy just got all his little teeth pulled today. He's zonked on opiates. He tries running around but keeps falling over. Should clear up by tomorrow.

They massacred my boy!

This is from yesterday, when he was interested in eating food. Every little toy dog I've had got rotten teeth about age ten.
It was over $900 for the job. Last dog cost about $200. But that was a decade ago.

I was going to say, he looks like a puppy.
So why do toy dogs tend to lose all lose their teeth? Malocclusion? My last dog had gum disease but didn't lose any teeth, he was about 75lbs though.

I don't know. Dogs bred for prettiness always get shafted in some department. Though my last pomapoo lived 18 years. 7 or so with only a few teeth.
They offer these expensive dental cleanings that I've never taken them up on. I don't imagine it prevents the loss so much as postpones it. But they were all infected and it was evident in his terrible breath. We'd been waiting for this appointment for almost three months too.
He's got a few prescription painkillers now and they say he'll be chewing strongly again in a couple of days. He gets soft food anyway. Either canned beef dinners or chicken and rice I make, both bolstered with chunks of Braunschweiger liverwurst.
Perhaps if he ate dry food his teeth would be stronger. He never went for dental chew toys or chewing on bones or anything healthy. We spoiled him when we got him and he'll accept nothing less now. There's perpetually a bowl of kibble by his water bowl that he has never been hungry enough to eat. And yet he acts as if he's starving at all times. Such a little diva.

I want everyone here to know that when you do these kinds of procedures, you should be extra vigilant and if your dog acts strange, be sure to pressure your vets to monitor them

My two precious childhood dogs died months apart from the same issue

Yeah, I thought it was funny too.

He's much better today. He can climb the stairs again and he's drinking water.
He needs to eat something if he wants his pain pills though.
