>Russia is the fourth largest world ecomomy
8th

And they're spending like 5% of their total economy each year, plus losing a lot of working force. So now they have labour shortage, companies are desperate to find workers but can't find.

While NATO countries have spent about 0.2% on this war from their total GDP.

Bottom line is that Russia cannot go on like this for more than a year, they go into financial collapse, because they won't be able to find the money to sustain that kind of crazy spending on the war. And even if they do, they can't go on because inflation is around 20% already. It will kill their plebs who live on a little more than 100 bucks per month.

It's gonna be really shit for them starting from the later part of this year. They're already hiking taxes to be able to keep funding the war.

Russia's national wealth fund had about 110bn euros in 2022 and now it's down to less than 10% of that.

Yeah they spent a lot from this fund too, but also from the government's defence budget. They didn't spend from one single source but multiple sources.

But since that wealth fund is getting depleted, they are increasing the share of spending from the public budget, so this year it's going to be mostly spending on the war from the public purse. It's close to one third of their total budget. Huge. Which means they had to cancel and cut a lot of investment and social spending.

>%
The total amount spent by Russia on the war (around 110bn euros) comes from multiple sources, as I said. And it includes all the spending on the war in the last 2 years until the spring of 2024. I don't have more recent data because in general finance institutions take time to compile them. Plus Russia's government started hiding the source of funding for the war, in many ways, they stopped publishing some statistics or declare a different destination for the funds.

The percentage was expressed relative to one year's GDP, so maybe it's not correct.
But it's just a ballpark to get an idea, it's impossible to have a very precise estimation.

But from all the sources I've seen, the consensus is that Russia spent around 4.5% of its GDP on the war in the first year, then started growing up to more than 5%.

While NATO and EU sent a total of funds and gear worth a bit over 120bn euros. Again data is until April 2024.
Which represents 0.2% of the aggreggated NATO member's GDPs in 2023.

So the war effort is a lot more debilitating to Russia. This doesn't take into account the costs for populations on either side, in inflation, etc.

PPP is kinda meaningless.

Think about it. A country can produce a fuckton of potatoes and because of that, they are very cheap. So you report that you have a huge production of potatoes and each individual can buy a huge quantity. High PPP.
But that individual has shit healthcare, no roads, low life expectancy, he drinks a lot, high divorce rate. But he has a lot of potatoes. That's high PPP for you. You can have high PPP and be poor as fuck and live in shit, because PPP doesn't calculate your living conditions, it's just a basket of basic goods calculates as equivalent in dollars.

So PPP is useful as an indicator but it shouldn't be taken as some kind of absolute measure of someone's quality of life

>this one russian retard desperately trying to brag about the size of moscow

People on 4chan have a big misconception about Russia. They think it's just a normal nation like France or Sweden or something.

However Russia never was a nation state. It was always an empire. If it would stop being an empire, it would shrink to the size of Moscow and die. It's an inherently parasitic construct.

A bunch of Mongol tax collectors managed to enslave everyone around them and brainwash them they are Russian. Russianness is based on agreement, not on facts. As long as everyone agrees they are Russian, Russia persists. But only Muscovites, the actual real Russians, benefit from this.

That's why they chimped out so badly against Ukraine. Ukraine refused to be fooled.
