There's a cyclical aspect to this, but also corruption and retarded boomers in congress and running the telecoms. An example of the cyclical aspect were Japanese and German factories that were razed to the ground during WWII but by15 years after the war ended had better and more modern equipment than the American factories that had made the things that destroyed them which were still using legacy equipment. Similarly the original internet infrastructure was built in America but as it became obsolete upgrades were slow and infrastructure even slower due to boomers once again preferring to save a buck and failing to see the use case for faster internet. When pressed on the issue they said shit like the country is too big and rural. When it was pointed out that there was no problem doing the same for electricity and telephones they circled back to saying congress didn't give them enough billions. Disaster of a generation.
