If you are born within the borders of the US, the constituion is clear about your citizenship status, in very unambigous language. Whether or not that is wise is not the point, its what the consitition says. But as I hinted at in my first post, the issue with anchor babies has always been about the status and intent of the parents, who deliberately try to have a child birthed in the US so they personally can become citizens, even though the law is clear that it takes an extraordinary degreee of evidence to clear that hurdle. The democrats just outright dont enforce that law, the current admin does. Also, every admin/congress passes laws that they know will have problems with constitutionalty, but a big defect in the way the US does things is that these laws will stand forever if the judicial branch does nothing about it, and often they get stuck by the Supreme Court just deciding not to take up the case at all. As far as this USSC session goes, I "won" my perdictions on how they would go, becauase they are only complicated if you start justifying positions through a political lens (though the positions of various judges/make up of the court do matter a great deal, but you can take that into account in most cases). Judges take their convictions into their decisions in great varying degrees.
