What is it like getting old? I'm in my mid 20s and I wonder what it is going to be like being in my 30s and 40s.

Do you lose interest in stuff you used to like?

Everything hurts. Your organs deteriorate.
You pay the price for any junk food or alcohol you ever consumed. And even if you were wise enough not indulge in those, you'll pay some different price.
Were you active? A sport? Bike-riding?
Your knees will lack cartilage. My brother (who ran track) had both hips replaced before he turned 40.
>>
>>951524126
Almost 40.
All of my focus goes into things that matter "practically". So like money, materials for said money, food, home and self maintenance etc.
I would buy videogames and never open them 10 years later.
It would interfere with my time.
Start going to the gym now. It's a little harder later on. Hydrate, take vitamins etc.
>>

I'm in my 30s. My life is just work now. I don't have hobbies anymore. Yeah it just gets worse. At least when I was your age good jobs were plentiful. I got fired and now work 2 shit jobs and take classes to try to get back to where I was before. I don't know how your gen will do it but I'll pray for you.

I'm 36 and don't have any of these problems. You guys are just invalids. I still play vidya, jerk off 3x times a day. Only thing that's true is the alcohol thing.

>>951524126
You might. Serve a higher ideal and foster a community. Be kind but generally trust the vibes you get off people and even then becautious/keep your distance. Ask AI to go in depth on foods and about any health concerns you may have. Things that work for others may not work for you. There's more I coukd tell you but you already stopped reading.

>>
>>951524126
37 here. Yeah you lose interest in stuff you used to like, but you find new stuff to enjoy. I used to be all about music in my teens and 20s... since then I've gone through different phases, drawing, painting, electrical engineering, software engineering, game development, networking, just being a lazy piece of shit. The cells in your body are replaced by new ones every day. Eventually every cell gets replaced, and you're someone else, but still you.
>>
>>951524908
Sounds kind of empty just doing these things because that's what you're "supposed to do". Chances are you'll be divorced in 5 years living in an studio apartment giving up all your money to alimony/child support
>>
You lose interest in things you realize are futile. The only vidya I play now is something story rich so that it's adject to reading. Tried Skyrim again, couldn't do it.

Health becomes a number 1 priority. Learn to cook, lift weights, do low impact cardio (I like rowing and bike machines). I still love alcohol but have to moderate, no more than 3 drinks in a night and maximum 5 per week. Otherwise you really feel it. Buy The Food Lab and learn to cook rather than just memorize recipes. If you can improvise you'll reduce the monotony of truly healthy food.

Your friend group will reduce, that's a good thing. Cultivate relationships with the men you trust. Pick regular days to meet with them. Shoot for 1/wk.

The older you get the worse you realize women are. With money and social fluency it becomes easy to pull women. Gen Z will let you get in their pants even without dinner first. AMPs exist if you need a fast nut. GET A PRE NUP. Before it becomes necessary, it acts as a filter for which women aren't capable of having strained and logical conversations. Learned that lesson once.

Getting routines helps mentally. I wake up at 6a and read for the first hour of my day with a cup of tea. Reading the news is a pointless, exhausting endeavor. The world will keep turning.

If you're decent with money, you'll be fine. Job in the end doesn't really matter. Just pick something you can stand for the next three decades.

If you haven't realized your place within the cosmos and all that it constitutes. Read more.

Good luck, Anon

Everything is different after 30. It's like your life goes silent. Your friends just disappear after they get married and have kids. Your ability to get vagoo actually increases after 30. Stay physically active and pay attention to hygiene more. Hair starts growing in weird areas unlike before. You may want to fight time with testosterone replacement and work out hard. The gym membership is worth every single dollar past 30. Also a good time to join something that is greater than you. Military, club, organization. You will be working to survive, but always put something away and forget you have it. Women will try to get their claws in you, the ones that "are ready to settle down" with a double Arby's roast beef sandwich down there. Look for a younger woman (19 to 28) that comes from money that appreciates a more mature man. Most important, be nice to everyone. Being young and carefree with your mouth is over. Be very careful with your words and attitude. Having alliances gets much harder after 30. Don't make enemies, but don't let friends know anything important about you. People turn into sharks and will try to knock you down to make themselves appear better to themselves. It gets very real and very ugly with people. Live your life. Don't shit where you eat. Save money. Stay fit. Be a man. Don't take shit from anyone. If someone tries you on for size, nip that shit in the bud immediately in an assertive tone. This is why I say stay fit. If you look fit less people will try to start shit with you. Learn about firearms. Practice shooting. Buy a pistol at least. Learn to conceal carry. Its been getting more and more dangerous out there. At least carry a folding knife.

If you got a job doing something you enjoyed in your twenties, by your mid thirties you might be pretty sick of it.

I can't say I lost my interest in computers, but I am getting really tired of working on stupid products and dealing with mega corp bullshit. It does feel like a fight against entropy to find and keep a good job. It's only a matter of time until any good job ends or goes to shit.

I still enjoy vidya, but I have to say as I have grown older I feel my tastes have become set in stone. I have no interest in playing most new games. I haven't played a new game on release day in 10 years. Probably 80% of my game catalog is at least 10 years old.

Now I just feel tired physically and spiritually. I am seriously looking forward to retirement, just another 15 years of grind.

Also it just feels like the world has been getting worse for the last 10 years, and society gets more retarded by day.

Thanks for reading my rant

I'm 51, which blows my mind. Once I settled into work and other adult responsibilities, time just slipped away. My parents are gone and I have no older generation I can turn to for advice. I once enjoyed painting and playing guitar, but I did those things so much they became boring to me. The same with sex. I've had to wear glasses since my late 30's. My hair is gray. I have developed a fear of going to the doctor because I'm afraid they'll find something. There were something like 400 people in my graduating high school class. About 40-50 of them have died. It sometimes seems unreal.
>>
>>951524126
My experience is that as you accrue interests you put some of them down. I mostly can't be fucked to play video games anymore. The grindy ones take too long, the strategy ones take too long, the roguelites aren't usually satisfying, ect. Now I do shit like garden, brew alcohol, and make bread. Shits cash.

I'm in my mid 50's and since I lost interest in mostly everything around 17 years old things are about the same now except back then I was way too skinny so finally filled out my body and look better now. My hair is more receded now but I can just get hair implants for my bigger forehead.
I would suggest not going the route of heavy squats and deadlifts your entire youth because at this age i'd have to imagine i'd have some discomfort or problems in my lower back and knees.
I'm pretty lucky because my face hasn't aged much kind of like Keanu Reeves or a Rob Lowe type person looked in their 50's. My latest hobby is drinking hard liquor and cruising around on the e-bike.

If you're single, take chances now that you can't when you have a family. Start a business and fail now, big deal. Later on you can't take the risk. Learn to find your own joy in what you do to make money. Be happy. These are some of the things I had to learn the hard way. I'm 49, fat and bald, but I have a wife that I've been with for 20+ years. Communication is key in a relationship. Learn how to listen, and put yourself in someone else's position if you can and don't assume people are assholes by default. In your late 30's you're going to do something normal like twist to grab a cup or something and your back will seize up. Shit happens. Your eyesight starts to go in your mid 40s. Reaction times slow a bit. Sudden bursts of anger at shit are less common. If you ever hit a low point and want to off yourself, don't. Things aren't as bad as you think and humans are great at adapting to anything. When you're older you're expected to man up and deal with shit. Fewer people will be around to help you out. Eventually you'll realize that Carl in ATHF was right when he said "It don't matter. None of this matters.". That applys to so many things. My own father passed away one year ago. Broke and living alone in a house falling down around him. Anger ate him up all his life and there was no one but us kids who would talk to him. He thought pussy and drinking and being the alpha male was what life was about. Be the opposite of that. Time passes faster the older you get. Be aware of everything all the time. Pay attention to the world around you. It helps slow the passing of time as you age. Do things that make you think, it keeps your brain sharp. When you're ready to settle down, look for a woman about 24 years old. That's when they kind of get their shit together. Put money away now when you can, but don't be a miser. My life has been better after 35 than it was before it. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

You are probably going to like what you like now unless you start to feel like it is all more of the same that you have had a thousand times before.
Stay flexible. The longer you live the less flexible you are.
Invest money for passive income. It adds up little by little until its a lot.
Eat good food now before your body starts rejecting everything.
Lose any fat you don't want now. It adds up over the years and it only gets harder to get rid of.
Everything hurts.

Agreed. Every day is a different moment worth living and I stay away from all that bullshit that people have decided to drown in. Only thing I still do is come here when in the restroom to just see whatโ€™s going on. Sometimes I find something to laugh at, most times I donโ€™t. Now that Iโ€™m done, Iโ€™m going to go out back, make a little fire, and stare at the sky in wonder. Enjoy the journey.

>What is it like getting old?
Just turned 40 recently.

Cons
>young/hot women stop looking at you unless you're absolutely shredded or look actually wealthy
>other single women your age are all fat, single mothers or completely fucking psychotic
>random things start to ache sometimes
>you get concerned jumping even like a couple ft of distance
>if you dont already run and work out itll take 10x as long to get back into shape as when you were in your early 20s
>you actually have to hydrate and eat your veggies and diet properly or you feel like shit all the time
>cant operate unless you have at least 1-2 afternoon naps a week
>if you dont already wear glasses, your eyes are starting to go bad and you'll need glasses to read without straining or letters being fuzzy

Pros
>afternoon naps are GODlike
>you actually have money to buy/do shit you want to do
>people mostly leave you the fuck alone
>you can sort of start bossing younger people around, depends on the setting but especially at work you can just tell younger people to do shit and they hop to it
>you stop caring about basically everything that used to stress you out in your 20s
>dating is more straightforward. there's no games, there's no song and dance. you meet a girl for a beer and if she's cool you both fuck and see where it goes.
>>
>>951524126
2 day hangovers.
When you're 20 you can get absolutely blind on a Tuesday clubbing until 4am and show up to work like nothing.
By 35+ anything more than a few beers will take you out for 2 days unless you're a raging alcoholic, in which case you have ~10 years left to live anyway.

Less hair on my head, but more growing out of my ears. You'll gain new interests to replace ones you grow out of. You probably won't have the same enthusiasm about them. Health things will creep up on you. You won't notice them until your joints hurt all the time, or you can't process certain foods the same way.
But the worst is time. It just slips away faster and faster every day that goes by. It's terrifying.

Yep, around late 30's or early 40's a year starts to pass in about 4 or 5 months.
Human life span isn't even close to 80 years because of this.
Plus the years beyond 70 aren't years you want to be alive for.
>>
>>951524126
Depending on who you talk to 30's are the new 20's so you are still a teeny bopper in many peoples eyes. Moderation is key, don't over indulge. Make sure to walk around, like around the neighborhood for about 30 minutes a week minimum so that your legs are strong enough to carry you. Based on how most people die its because their body fails them because they don't listen to it. Have a craving, read the ingredients of that thing to figure out what nutrients your body needs. Make sure to drink electrolytes, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc. and reduce your high cholesterol by eating nuts and cashews. Eat small meals 6 times a day and keep hydrated. Keeping your Metabolism up is key.

I am 42, 43 in November, and technically I am more fit now than I was in my 20's. Once many moons ago I was 390lbs, and now I am about 220. I accidentally gained 16 pounds last week. Ate chicken, watched the calories and now I am back to 220.

I prefer play to games that don't have an ending, like EvE, Space Engineers, City Builders, Stormworks: build and rescue. I think its important to keep your mind sharp and occupied. Keep learning new things and have a few projects so that

Job wise, its been crazy for me I haven't been able to find one, prolly because I am 40 and a white male. So I build 3D models and small projects make money. I have been attempting to make gaming a career, once I was a game tester for Microsoft but I was laid off 2 years ago. Since the industry is now ruled by the woke and is imploding I don't think I'll be working in it for another 10 years as it recovers.

finally I leave you with this and it will make life simpler, "Accept what cannot be changed, the courage to change what can be, and the wisdom to understand the difference" - Reinhold Niebuhr

here's a take from someone who knows a lot more than your average joe: Figure out your mission in this lifetime and accomplish it, go see a tarot reader or a palm reader or a divinator and ask them. You are supposed to learn lessons in this life and complete your "mission" in fact the more you learn lessons, the better it will be, good luck oh and the end mission is becoming enlightened or becoming like the Buddha

>>951524126

When you're young, you and your body are one; you are a whole human - mind and body.
It moves you where you want to go and does what you want it to do. You don't even think about it.

When you get older, a division starts to take place. Your body starts to feel like a separate thing; like a dying biological spacesuit that you're stuck in.

Not only does it increasingly fail but it also starts to fucking hurt you like an enemy, even if you treat it well.
>>
>>951524126
>Do you lose interest in stuff you used to like?

>>951524126
30s and 40s are pretty good but you should exercise and save some money, even small amounts now will compound
I wasn't able to build savings until I hit my 30s due to living check to check but once I broke through in my career it made a massive difference in my quality of life, having some savings as a cushion and not having to worry constantly about unexpected expenses
>>
46, in my Unc era. I'm a kidpilled dadcel. Having children really does negate a lot of the things that would suck about getting older. You're tired a lot, your best jeans are suddenly too tight, your wife hit the wall and you have sex twice a month? Doesn't matter; have kids. When you're young, children are an obstacle to all the fun stuff you want to do. When you get older, they become the fun stuff you want to do.

I spent a lot of years banging 5-8s (age adjusted) and getting my body count over 50 was fun, but I knew I couldn't do it forever. You don't want to be the old guy in the club. If you're in your 30s, start moving in the direction of marriage. You've got time - don't hit the panic button - but you should treat it as a valuable resource.

One more thing: you really do stop giving a fuck what other people think. It's really liberating. I'm not quite ready to post "gas the kikes" under my own name but there's a reason that Boomers are openly racist on Facebook.

52, single no kids.. that kept me feeling young I guess.

Until recently I could eat anything not gain any weight. Last year I gained 10kg (82 now) I quit alcohol and smoking 3y ago, so that might explain the weight gain.

I had 20/20 vision all my life, but had to star wearing glasses for reading when I turned 49. I still love going to concerts/festivals but my knees start hurting day after. I feel my body is not carrying me as far as it could 5y ago. I could be on the dancefloor until the sun came up.

I'm starting to feel not as young anymore, and I hate it. Getting old sucks. I only recommend it cause the alternative is worse.

> 37 yo unc here
It's honestly fucking great.
I have more money, more time, responsibilities are easier to manage, and the stress of life is so much easier to deal with than from what you have to deal with in high school and college.
Since I spent most of my 20s working out, I'm not fat and am actually fit. I also have a full head of hair thanks to God like hair genetics even though I'm frauding all of the time.
Tastes have slightly changed
> I want things that require minimal maitanance and care.
Means I go for permanent solutions so I don't have to deal with it later.
> Tastes in video games changed
Instead of immersive epics like Skyrim and subnautica, I prefer low commitment games like fez and cult of the lamb.
> Time is the ultimate currency
And it's the only thing I cannot get more of.
>>
The niggers you deal with become more human.
>Teenapers are constantly fistfighting over basketball and flash-mobbing convenience stores
>In their twenties they're stealing bikes and committing gun crimes that get them sent to jail
>In their thirties they're in jail so you don't have to deal with them much. The ones on the outside want gibs for their kids
>In their 40s, jail changes a nigger. They calm down, maybe find Jesus, and type-2 diabetes makes them too tired to rob you

Are you single? Sounds like it. I was pretty much in your position ten years ago and it fucking ruled. But I'm positive that I couldn't have gone on like that. I made a change and got married, had three children. You should have a plan for what comes next.

Niggas be complaining about losing hair. There's no excuse for that. Generic finasteride is 50ยข a day. Minoxidil is basically free: three drops of the topical solution orally in the morning and bedtime. Keep your hair, get bitches.

>58 yo here.
Companies exploit the keen young uns.
I prioritized work over gf/wife and lost them.
Now new wife and kids are everything.
Most stuff is superficial and I don't care.
Oh - look after your body because it falls to bits.
I workout and walk every day and am in good shape for any age.
My friends are dying like flies; heart attacks, cancers, diabetes...

>Do you lose interest in stuff you used to like?
Not really. I turned 40 a few months ago. Life is the same as your 20s but this time with white hair.

Turning 40 in Dec this year.... at this stage of life i am just going through the motions waiting to die... or another relative.
I also realize that once i hit 40 its prime cancer age.... i fear prostate and pancreatic cancer will get me, as we have a genetic mutation in our family.... 3 have died from pancreatic, 2 from prostate.

>Do you lose interest in stuff you used to like?
yes but it's not necessarily a bad thing, and there are reasons for that, like you realize it wasn't that interesting in the first place, you notice drawbacks you didn't know about before, your tastes get more refined and demanding and you leave some fanbase for superior things that the kids don't know are better
