Liberals are far more pro-individualism than conservatives. Conservatives like to say they are individualists, until they meet a black trans atheist immigrant, then suddenly the way this individual lives their life is bad. Bigotry is diametrically opposed to individualism. But liberals also recognize that individual freedom comes with responsibilities, otherwise the total freedom in society is actually reduced. The ethos of conservative "individualism" is the ability to fuck other people over with impunity. Liberal individualism is to let others live their live as they want, *as long as* they don't fuck other people over, because that violates the freedom of the victim.
