If you keep using old browsers that work on Windows 2000, you get blocked by many sites on the internet, and even if you manage to get on youtube, they are using codecs today not supported by the old browsers, so you can't play most videos.

If you try upgrading your browser, you get an error saying the newer browsers don't work on Windows 2000.

Plus windows 2000 never came out with a 64 bit version needed to access today's larger disk drives.

Windows 11 is such a nightmare of spying, while making lots of existing hardware obsolete, that many former Win10 users switched to Linux instead of Win11, pic related.

Here's a wayback machine capture of abovetopsecret.com forum from 2000. Things like this may be the best I can do. That forum did some major upgrades over the years, and the site finally died a few years ago when Google made forums like that unprofitable by steering ads away from those forums.

Wayback browsing can be fun, but we have so many updates since then, that the information is so obsolete as to be useless, except for historical reference.

The last time I could talk to them and have a nice conversation was about 5 or 6 years ago, when me and my fiance came for dinner (almost) every sunday. Now something funnt that happend recently. Last thursday I was sitting in my room, listening to music and noticed I grab my phone every 2 minutes and unlock it. So I decided to turn it off. After some time I think that's not enough, I still see it and look at it every 2 minutes. So I decided to hide it somewhere. The night goes on, I feel good. Around midnight I think it's time for bed. There has to be some implications on society over time when it's been so normalized to instantly record something or someone. Well yeah that's a separate issue. There are ways to overcome wageslavery, like saving up to live an off-grid self-sufficient life. Buy some cheap land somewhere if you're lucky enough to find it (usually you have to go out of city), buy a cheap RV or trailer and park it on the land. Get some solar panels for electricity. The only hurdle would be water and food but I suppose you can hunt for food or go into town every once in a while to get free food from pantries. There'd be property taxes but in the right state that's less than $1000 a year. Internet would be the only major thing you'd have to pay for if you decide to get it but it can work with starlink.

Here's what I did today. Played some PS2 emulated game on my laptop, specifically Outrun 2006 and Ape Escape 3. Later on I'm gonna get some pizza hut while I play Guild Wars and have Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex playing on the tv. All of these things came out in the 2000s. Moving to a place, not having internet for two weeks so I can't watch youtube videos or stream stuff and by that time I didn't have an SSD with movies and games installed on it. Laptop was acting funny so I couldn't even play the games on that at the time. Know what I did have? A closet full of older consoles, a bunch of physical discs, a DVD player with a good bit of DVDs. I need to check out stuff like Kodi and Jellyfin. From what I understand is you can make your own streaming service with them. I have two tvs, one a modern Samsung Crystal UHD 55 inch that has a built-in media player that recognizes all file types and encodings. So I can just plug my SSD into it and play movies off of it. The other is a Panasonic Viera which came out in 2009, perfect for watching stuff on for nostalgia value and also has a built-in media player but for limited file types. If I can find a way to put anything on my Panasonic Viera without using a DVD player, or connecting my SSD to a laptop and connecting my laptop to the tv, then I'd be set up.
