What if Al Gore had won the 2000 US presidential election? What would America and the rest of the world be like today?
>>956142467no war in iraqclimate change would now largely a non issuewe'd also be so much further along in clean energy that we could tell petrostates in the middle east and around the world to fuck offthose are the big ones
>first post is bait>likely op samefag
>>956142467>googles AI GoreWhat the fuck man
>>956142670He should have won
>>956142467Hanging chads n shit. LoL. Good times. The thing is carbon taxes are a complete scam as is most of manmade climate change. But at the same time I'm all for PEVs and solar panels and new tech. That dinosaur juice wont last forever.
>>956143433then don't tell Florida how to count votes next time
I'm just going to say it. Most warming thats going to come from CO2 is already realized. Now the other things that humans do like the sheer amount of heat energy released from fossil fuels is a different matter, as are urban heat islands and deforestation.CO2 is plant food and we need more not less.
>>956143745Dont believe me? Observe the graf given. Not a typo btw.Millions of years of Earths geologic history and where does the carbon go? It goes underground. When a plant dies 1/2 of that plant is underground.Where did all of the fossil fuels come from? Billions of years of plants dying and CO2 going underground. Where it was subjected to heat and pressure, making those nifty long chain carbon molecules that are so vital to rocket surgery and of course the auto industry etc.Without wind the heavier gases like CO2 would sink to the ground.
>>956143878All of the plant life in the worlds oceans breathes CO2 and absorbs it and releases oxygen. When that plant life dies it goes to the bottom of the ocean.
Plant trees and drink water
>>956144467Trees cannot stop themselves from using up too much CO2. This isnt LOTR with those talking kung-fu trees.>>956143878
>>956144467Nice
>>956143679also climate change is realhttps://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/scientific-consensus/>It’s important to remember that scientists always focus on the evidence, not on opinions. Scientific evidence continues to show that human activities (primarily the human burning of fossil fuels) have warmed Earth’s surface and its ocean basins, which in turn have continued to impact Earth’s climate. This is based on over a century of scientific evidence forming the structural backbone of today's civilization.
>>956146171Statement on Climate Change from 18 Scientific Associations"Observations throughout the world make it clear that climate change is occurring, and rigorous scientific research demonstrates that the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are the primary driver." (2009)
>>956146199American Chemical Society"The Earth’s climate is changing in response to increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and particulate matter in the atmosphere, largely as the result of human activities." (2016-2019)
>>956146218American Geophysical Union"Based on extensive scientific evidence, it is extremely likely that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century. There is no alterative explanation supported by convincing evidence." (2019)5there are tons more in that NASA link, someone else can paste them in when a chud hurr durrs and vomits out some fossil fuel industry propaganda
>>956143433Yeah
>>956142467>What would America and the rest of the world be like today? The same cause lobbyists are the ones calling the shots?
>>9561424679/11 still happens and the electorate is so pissed off with Gore for not adequately making the Middle East pay that he's voted out of office in 2004 and replaced by a guy named Lindsey Graham who riles up all the traumatized people behind a crusade against Muslim enemy states, and Iraq just gets invaded in '05 instead of '03.
>>956142467exactly the same.nothing would be different.
>>956142467If Gore had won in 2000 we would all still be alive today because he would have stopped the polar ice caps from melting.
>>956151925No it wouldn't.
>>956142467Under First-Past-the-Post Voting and the polarized media environment FPTP allows we'd still be in this pendulum-politics shit.
>>956151491>>956151925>>956153824literally braindead*slow clap*
>>956143878Except the earth ain't making more. The reason we have lakes of carbon underground is due to the carboniferous period. No microbes had yet evolved to break down cellulose, so dead vegetation just piled up, locking their carbon away. That doesn't happen anymore.
>>956142467What do you mean 'What if'?
>>956143745Weird that we had more plant when we had lower CO2
>>956152003Man this is funny. Corporate Dem but did basically everything Republicans love. Did we get nuked by Iraq? How much did Gore cost tax payers vs Bush? Musk and Trump never complained that Musk got tax benefits AND protections against Chinese electric cars.
>>956142467He did win, the Supreme Court was corrupted and is to this day. The Right has lost all credibility as they suck off an old man wearing diapers.
>>956159409
>>956142467we would still have gone to war in Afghanistan, but not in IraqAl and Tipper would still be married>>956142670>climate change would now largely a non issuelolnothe U.S. no longer gets to decide that, China's greenhouse gas emissions now *dwarf* the U.S.'s, and India will pass the U.S. in a decade or twowhat happens with climate change is largely up to China and India now, and Africa, if their population doubles between now and 2060 as is projected (from 1.5 bn to 3bn)
