He owed debt to two rich drunktards who became really not so nice (they threatend him over years) one time they tried to stab him with a knife after they took him out of the bar. My greatgrandpa thought they where going to kill him so he picked up a wood piece and killed them with what was probably blunt head trauma in self defense
