You can always try mixing water and household bleach at a 20:1 mix with a bit of baking soda stirred in. Then gargle/rinse the mixture over the affected tooth for a couple of minutes. You can spit out the mixture and rinse after 20 or 30 seconds and repeat a few times in order to prevent soft tissue irritation.The bleach mixture will seep into any cracks in the tooth and suppress any infections down there. Repeat a couple of times per day for a week.
