>>24797650I reckon you might be joking there, but I honestly believe that the best possible outcome would've been guaranteed if there had been no wars in the last few years in the first place. Before the whole Russia-Ukraine War stuff, there used to be a lot of young Russian people who'd freely travel to Western Europe and mingle together with Western Europeans and Ukrainians alike. There used to be Russian punk and heavy metal bands. There also used to be lots of funny Russian YouTubers out there. Many of those people are still alive and all. They just can't really travel hastle-free to Western Europe or talk to their old friends from Ukraine without running across a variety of issues. Instead of going to Majorca (Spain), now they go to Bodrum (Turkey), and instead of shopping at Harrod's in London, they now go shopping to places in Istanbul or Shanghai instead, not really an awful experience, but, y'know, not exactly the same.I remember meeting lots of Russian guys back when I used to go to Germany as a teenager. Some of them were funny and quite friendly. Too bad they can't use YouTube, Facebook, X, or any other Western social media websites anymore.Same thing with Iranian people. The ironic thing about the Mahsa Amini protests was that they revealed how well off Iranian women were in terms of how exposed they were to Western fashion, pop culture, and secular education that they could actually get some dialogue running about feminism and women's rights in a way similar to their counterparts in countries like Spain, Germany, France, America, etc. Even though they didn't have rights, they were at least in the conditions to know about how people lived in other countries, which wouldn't have been possible if they hadn't had access to Chinese-made cellphones and personal computers, Western social media, and other kinds of stuff that isn't from inside Iran.It was war, plain and simple, that made life worse for all these peope.
