constantly feel like i don't have enough time to myself, keep staying up late at night to compensate for it, then wake up feeling miserable, which just makes the cycle even worsei'm worried i'll run out of time to do all the things i want to do and that i'm wasting my life away workingand then my dad keeps bitching to me over the phone about how i should take more fucking hours than i already do because that stupid son of a bitch does nothing but work 12 hours a day and complain to the family living with him about the house not being clean instead of doing anything with themalso he bitches to me whenever he finds out i spent money on something that doesnt relate to him and tells me how i need to focus on saving up, and i dont even live with him
>>24925056move out?
>>24925096i already have, but he still takes it upon himself to keep trying to assert himself in my life as if i still live with him, and for a lot of reasons i cant just cut ties completelyhe wants nothing but stagnation, doesnt want me to have a social life, doesnt care for privacy, wants me to have everything to do with him but wont go an inch out of his way to try and learn anything about me or do anything with himhe's never even realized the fact that i've long since converted to a different faith than him (4 years ago) and been spending every sunday at a church
>>24925134hmm sounds like he's got a big issue with understanding boundaries. not rlly something I can give u a roadmap to solving but the best general purpose advice I can give someone in ur situation is just to try and communicate ur boundaries as clearly as possible every time the other party does not respect them. >converted to a different faithwhat faith is ur father may I ask? in some cultures parents behaving like this is just normal so you'd be best of asking someone from that background for advice
>constantly feel like i don't have enough time to myselfI used to just be like this to the point of developing a bit of a sleep-phobia. Even when I found that sleeping at a reasonable time and waking up early to do whatever I wanted was not much of a remedy. I had discovered that there is something about staying at night that really changes your brain chemistry and the way you think. You should really tackle this issue sooner or else your emotional stability and judgement really deteriorates. In my opinion, that is the biggest and most feasible issue you can resolve. If you do, you will find yourself being much more lucid and decisive to confront the rest of your problems. Do not under estimate the restorative nature of sleeping. >my dadEgh, I really do not want to give personal relationship advice, but my dad was almost like this too. He has mellowed out with time. You did say you are living in your own little humble abode....have you tried giving him a bit of a confrontational cold-shoulder? It is the passive route, but again, I really do not know your entire situation. Sorry for tossing a generic answer but....this is the kind of conundrum that is best discussed with a professional. But us /bant/eroos could give you are sympathies and warm kisses. *muah*
