I'm 63 and I never had a friend nor girlfriend. Also, I drink every OTHER day till I'm pritnear good and drunk. The trick is to drink water mixed with ovaltine after you crash during the night and eat nutritious food and even more water the next day. I go through two handles (1.75l) a week. I never had health issues nor felt withdrawal symptoms when I go on month long cruises. Funny enough, when I travel is when I generally don't drink.

The kit you have should be easy enough. You can always buy some extra hops online, or add a bit more sugar if you want it to be stronger than the recipe (regular beer yeast can easily ferment up to about 9% if you give it enough to feed on). I tried doing it the proper way with boiling the barley, making the wort etc... nightmare...
