Her mother, Choi Soon-sil, was a close friend of South Korea's president for 40 years.Ewha Womans University admitted athletes by interview instead of exam. In 2015, it expanded eligible sports from 11 to 23, adding horseback riding. Chung's Asian Games gold medal in team dressage came five days after the application deadline. They counted it anyway. Candidates were forbidden to show medals. She wore hers in.
