So I don't know, Treasure Planet is laden with some type of Marxist meaning and sentiment,

They are searching for treasure and gold though, I think they partially mean they think there should still be a gold standard and things like that
>>
but I also think it's one of the reasons why it's not the gold standard anymore as well it's hard to say, so conflicting. Hmmmm....
>>
Despite it being Marxist laden, the color gold is featured quite often and an integral part of the story as well, so at the end they decide that the treasure is not really worth it and that the bonds and relationships they make are worth more than the treasure.

That's what they want you to come away with and think at the end, but is that really true?

do they really mean that despite finding the treasure being a huge part of the plot, they actually want to discourage you from finding gold, wealth...and treasure? what is Disney, this multimillion conglomerate doing? that's a bit hypocritical isn't it?
>>
What I took away from it was that, there can be wealth to be found in Marxism, or at least, there can be wealth to be found when whomever understands what idea behind the means of production?
>>
You're not really given that clear of an understanding what is achieved or understand at the ending of the film except the power of like relationships or some shit

But Jim does get some of the gold enough to restore his Mother's INN and keep it running better so he does find treasure to an extent

BUT HE COMPLETELY STOPS BEING LIKE THAT AT THE END, WHY IS THAT?

Here the basic idea behind his style and outfit,

they want you to think he is "rebellious" it's not for a reason or purpose for sure, it's not just how he is, but instead he is just going through a "rebellious phase" quite possibly at least.

He accepts the establishment though to an extent, so he's not that rebellious, the reason why he has his hair long but shaves his sides and has his hair in a pony tail is because he accepts the establishment to an extent

It's also the reason why he wears a dress shirt
and shows his ankles with his pants

He is basically doing feudalism/medieval because it's more tolerated/accepted and allowed or whatever, so what does that all have to do with everything?
>>
The main purpose is, I think I just want to figure out if it's a clear sign that there is "treasure to be found in Marxism"

I think it could mean, the reason it's set in the future is because, that is where the economy is going, business and the economy will be more "Marxist" in the future quite possibly though they will quite possibly be "conservative" about it, which is one point they're trying to make I think
>>
fuck I think I know why he joins the military at the end,

It's because treasure planet is saying something like, "There is wealth in Marxist/or behind the means of production" and he basically gets close to it at some point, but the planet blowing up and detonating being a death trap, I think it's supposed to symbolize that it's a war basically, it's like the equivalent of a world war or something if you ever tried to achieve marxism or get control of the ultimate means of production

that's why he joins the military I think at the end and becomes a cadet because he essentially realizes this
>>
frankish empire

how did Germany get this way? what happened to it all? how could it be so different?
>>
Okay, another thing---

They say the Treasure Planet is set to explode and go off if anybody trespasses

so maybe that's the idea, how do you somehow make it so that you are not "trespassing" how do you gain permission? why is there a mad leading to it and all that just for it to be a booby trap

Anyway I realized, why there are infrared sensors that go off when they enter treasure planet it only zooms in on and shows the foot of John Silver.

John Silver is an alien, in fact, almost all the companions he has with him are either aliens or are not human

and I think that's what Disney is hinting at, it goes off because they're aliens, you have to be a human to enter it safely.
>>
So basically at the end they make a big deal about friendship between Jim and John Silver, but he's essentially an alien, and there are so many aliens in the movie, so who knows what they really mean, the movie is contradictory, because on one hand they're saying it doesn't matter, things like friendship prevail against differences like being an entirely different species and in the world of Treasure Planet, you have to accept that, you have to accept that humans are outnumbered.

But really I think what they're getting at is that there are too many aliens
>>
I think that's why he had a glowing cybernetic eye

the cat lady for a known fact, directly has something to do with ancient egypt

so it seems like the movie does leave many clues

SO MANY MYSTERIES GOD DAMNIT

how am I supposed to know for sure what it all means? I'm pretty sure that aliens in the story are bad, but I can't be 100% sure

like is the answer behind the fact that there's some reference to ancient Egypt in it with the god damn cat woman
>>
Some more thoughts:

it goes along with neo-liberalism, that generally I am not sure how true this is, but my whole life, I have been treated like and given the impression that I have to be on the 3rd world's side, that I am in the same predicament, that I am essentially in some kind of "recession" and that is true because there's been less opportunities for me as a whole, there's little escaping poverty for me and if I do have a job, then I had to work like a Mexican day laborer or some shit totally third world that's what it felt like growing up my entire life, like I was in some type of harsh recession but not only that, I was in the third world practically. That's what it felt like, like the dirty 30s, third world all that stuff.

And then I think, is the idea or sentiment regarding "living off the land" and all that stuff, should I really be on the 3rd worlds side? do I really want to be on their side? do I have any choice? because the question more than anything I guess, does the third world really want their freedom? I guess. I am wondering if I should be for the "booms" instead, if that is more my way. Well, that's the thing, the 3rd world just seems to be mired neo-liberal policies and I don't really want anything to do with neo-liberalism for sure.

How do you know that if you have some kind of revolution, that the rest of the world is not just going to try and do something like the Soviet Union? which is very similar to neo-liberal ideas, how do you avoid that?

can you actually instill and have a real revolution WITHOUT starting a world war? that's the biggest question
>>
It's just interesting, the orb is a "light" in a sense, it's not just a color, but it's a "light" that he carries with him throughout the journey, it symbolizes some kind of a light so it's interesting it gives more insight into the story
>>
I thought pirates were good as well, like the same with Jim I guess (almost)
>>
So ironically, Jim is a Marxist in the film, which is why there is a mutiny in the film, but ironically Jim is one of the only humans in the film and he is made to do all the hard work in the ship, he is oppressed the most by the aliens which is why their are marxist undertones

notice the pale colors in the background in contrast to Jim.

Jim is almost evil or something, it's the reason why he is not considered "good" enough at the beginning, this shows some type of deep discontentment with the outside world or maybe some kind of clash.

His families INN is a lot more feudal, while it hints that the rest of the area is not that feudal at all or anything
>>

in a sense, it's not Silver's fault for his issues like his cyborg enhancements to compensate for loss of limbs or whatever. And it's saying almost that Jim has to understand Silver for some reason,
and in the end his robotic arm is what saves both of them (thus why he has to understand him better)

but at a wider scope it has something to do with 70s I think, it's the reason Silver is 70s, and in an odd way by comparison treasure planet is kind of robotic and a machine too, so maybe in a sense Jim just has trouble with machines in general

But John Silver does prove that he is good enough for Treasure Planet, but yet, the planet still turns on him for some reason because he is not genetically pure enough or something.
>>
i feel so comfy in my linux lubuntu LTS hugbox againerino
>>
In a sense, Jim wouldn't have that problem with Treasure Planet turning hostile if it wasn't for John Silver, but yet, he wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for John Silver. There are similar reasons why John Silver is half cyborg, it was survival for him too at some point, and he had to rely on unnatural things just to get by.

So in a way, John Silver is almost like this crutch that he doesn't need, but at the same time, Jim doesn't have any disabilities, except for the fact that maybe Jim is actually kind of "crippled" on the inside, he has serious internal issues due to reasons like his father abandoning him, thats' where it starts. It's almost like a bad omen too, towards Jim because he is a Marxist
>>
in a way,

I suppose Jim's most obvious wound and issue is his lack of guidance and it takes the form of a missing father figure in his life to which Jonh Silver fulfills, so he is kind of a father figure to him but yet he is 70s among other things

but it's not his fault, John has good in him, he is almost a bit like Darth Vader here.
>>
It's not really that deep or profound I guess, a lot of people have issues and relationships like that but...

it does go deeper than that, the reason why Treasure Planet doesn't like Silver and what they hint at what it is with him

But there's no real words or terms to use to explain and describe it, he's almost half-robotic, half-cyborg

so they're mixing different fictional tropes here in this story and universe, not only many "aliens" (and Silver is both alien and cyborg) but also robots are bound a plenty as well, and there's a nod to ancient Egypt in there as well. Basically, it has something to do with, Silver is a bit like Darth Vader and also I suppose his cybernetics make him and serve to represent how he is on the far right or something.
>>
He's lost part of his humanity, but it's not just that he lost his humanity, his cybernetics make him like, probably a part of something else, there's no "skynet" in this movie, but it almost is like Terminator and John is like Half-Terminator-Half Darth Vader-half well, "alien" but organic and almost human. Well he's also an "alien" because that's basically what he is to Jim, he's like an alien parasite and Jim is his host, he essentially alienates Jim almost or something.

But that's probably how they almost want you to see the 70s or something it's a greater part of what is Jim's issue essentially. It starts with like his missing father figure, but it turns almost into something else.
>>
So I don't get what they are getting at, most people see the movie and they go, "oh it's about how important and meaningful friendship is" at the end, and that's sort of what they're getting at, but yet, look at what Silver fucking represents, what the fuck?
>>
But they are sort of saying, "friendship is more important than money, that's the real treasure, friendship.

In the context of the film and all the themes present, they are saying that money isn't the most important thing in the world

but essentially, what if true friendship hardly exists?

I guess also on another hand I think Disney is saying that Marxist is not entirely possible for sure, because of the issue related to wealth and money (great wealth)

which is kind of stark and a let down

but that's just one interpretation of the film, there are several interpretations of the film I think

and they're all correct I think
>>

Like here they're saying, they're hinting that the INN was like this safe protective bubble and he was safe inside through the window acts like this protective thing or at least also a barrier between the outside world and inside

but the lighting does mean or represent feudalism, but they're also hinting at that it might have been his mothers fault for his father leaving (but it also shows how it might have been his fault as well)
>>
his white boat sail he had, he thought his father would stay or something if he showed it to him

but it still wasn't good enough for some reason I think what it's hinted at with his father is that he was all for stuff like that, like he was upstanding, righteous, and conventional which is why he might have left
>>
>>25033595
but see, a lot of people have problems like that though, I guess

who knows why they decided to say or make all that stuff alien
>>
so here his organic hand is reaching for Jims hand and there's all this lighting here it becomes fraught with peril at this point I guess
>>
who knows what Disney is really saying when it comes to wealth and money/or gold "treasure"

because they still might be saying that riches are worth pursuing to some extent it's one of the interpretations of the film
>>
and this is serious commentary as well
>>

The Franks were an interesting case because they spoke a language that was the predecessor of Dutch, and thus more closely related to English than to German, but most of their kingdom was centered around present-day France, Belgium and parts of the Netherlands, only later covering Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Northern Italy.

The strange thing is that back in the early Middle Ages, much of Western Europe was ethnically Celtic but spoke Romance languages, and that many of those ethnically Celtic people adopted Germanic languages from their rulers.

Erwin Schrödinger, one of the most important physicists of the 20th century, who was born in Austria and was deeply interested in ancient mystic stuff, said
>I believe there is a deeper connection between us Austrians and the Celts. Names of places in the Austrian Alps are said to be of Celtic origin.

With regard to this, I think it can be taken to mean that much of Western Europe is historically Celtic, even though it was last ruled by the Franks, and that the subjects of the Franks were mostly Celts even though the rulers themselves were Germanic and that they brought along Germanic languages to parts of their territory.

>>
who knows how a story opens with some character being a marxist and then he ends up going on some type of treasure quest

do the two really fit together?
>>
does he want all the treasure because he is a marxist?

so it's interesting to note that the mutiny on the ship is not actually good for sure (but it is some commentary on marxism) I suppose in a sense, the thing with the pirates and the mutiny is that Jim starts to become a part of the underworld and break free from the confines of proper society at least that's what slowly happens

and he is essentially spared by the pirates that's one of the major points, but the reason he is spared is because he is a marxist or whatever I guess because he in a sense "understands"
>>
such a typically combination, some part black guy, an hispanic and A WHITE WOMAN
