what was jesus thinking and what compelled him to make the decisions he made? what he did? how he most have seemed crazy to everyone, hence Judas and the Jews and the Romans trying to kill him I guess, but I dunno.
Oh my gawd, really?
You have to put Jesus in historical context for his death to make sense:>Fucked shit up in a Jewish temple>Said he was going to get fucked over>The Jewish leaders wanted him dead for fucking up the temple>Said the Jews would riot on the sabbath if the Romans didn't arrest Jesus>Jesus arrested by Romans>Romans like "wtf why they want this dude dead">Romans check with Jewish populous and offer to free either Barabbas or Jesus>Jews free Barabbas, condemn Jesus>To keep the peace, Jesus is crucified during the sabbath>Jesus dies>Taken to a cave>Disappears>Reappears and walks around like nothing had happenedThis whole act of defiance against the Jews who at the time were not living the holiest lives they could created a whole new way of thinking and philosophy, new perspectives about death and what God wants for his people. Knowing all this makes Jesus such a fucking badass and might explain why he was such a controversial figure in both Religion and history.
Does it help that he, ironically enough, would very much be "rolling in his tomb" if he knew that the gentiles would adapt his religion?Oh yeah: according to historians his religion wasn't supposed to be for anyone but jews/whoever was inhabitting Israel at the time...
>>25132965We used to go to holy men for solutions to our problems but then the black plague hit and killed 2/3rd's of the human population.Things adapt over time and I think Jesus would just be happy his message has lasted ~2000 years and has helped so many people through difficult times.
Jesus had some kind of intention to replace Egyptian religion for some reason, who knows what that was, but it's the reason that Egyptian religion mirrors Christianity so much. That's how I see religion, some strange artifact from ancient times, which precedes to fulfill some duty in an artificial society. But ironically enough, it's the mostly the Jews and Judaism on the left. Thus, I am not really sure how it all fits together.
>>25133032The problem with religions today is they need to get REAL. People and schizos think their imagination is somehow evidence of the divine and that mysticism is more important than action and words. If you got rid of the wishy washy mentality and explained things like "intuition" as "the holy spirit" etc. and made religious people understand that imagination =/= effects on the material then we'd all have a better time on Earth.Talking to God in your imagination is fine, but when you start telling people that they can talk to God in their mind without exercising their imagination to do so then weird stuff starts to happen and they confuse mysticism with reality. God is omnipotent so can presumably see everything, even the electron, proton, and neutron changes in your brain as neurons fire and explaining God that way makes a lot more sense then just having a telephone to God that is magic.

>>25132904according to the bible he was divinely inspired, prayed a lot, and sought divine guidancemight sound like platitudes but his faith and love were motivating factorswhy else would he willingly do what he did>>25132965saint paul practiced jewish law to murder early christisns for having faith, then he converted when he had an encounter with the holy spirit (Jesus), from there paul went on to establish many churches and wrote 13(or 14) books of the (27) new testament>according to historians his religion wasn't supposed to be for anyone but jews/whoever was inhabitting Israel at the time.which makes this statement entirely falsenot sure where you read that anon
>>25132930>at the time were not living the holiest lives they couldHistory is written by the victors, as they say.
>>25133075This has nothing to do with my post
nobody can ever directly speak to me or answerthey always have to try and strawman or pettifog me how can you save anybody then with religion?
>>25137578maybe you are only open to your own opinion and unwilling to discuss unless it fits your world view?have you considered that?
>>25137587Oh it's my own defect of course,it's not the guy giving an outright strawman and insincere discourse in plain sight.
nothing new to see here
>>25137592well thats just your opinion, im being entirely sincere but its on you for getting triggered and not being able to further the discussioni am curious, what kind of answer would satisfy you?
>>25137587Also, you're a hypocrite because the reason you are even bothering to say to that me is because you are actually closed off to other opinionsit's all a concentrated effort and you don't even know each other but you know enough that you're total squares
>>25137615you are projecting your own insecurities because im very open to the discussion and what i might not know or alternate perspectives>total squaresthis is not true, you could try asking some questions instead of acting insecure and defensive
>>25132904Jesus was a prophet and teacher. Nothing more and nothing less.
i hope he comes back and wants to talk about it
