There were thousands of active English-speaking forums. It was fantastic.
Some of that is a result of LLM tech and awareness that you are being intelligently watched. Harvest now, decrypt later has the same sentiment. They collect this data, they may never have a use for it, but they have no reason not to collect it. You are being watched, just not consciously. If you have social media and photos of yourself online over the past 5 years they've all been scraped a long time ago.
