Back in 2010 I was renting a pressure washer from Home Depot for $84/day after my warehouse shift making $13.75/hr. Knocked on doors all weekend and ate peanut butter sandwhiches in the truck because I didnt wanna waste money.

Fast foward 15 years and now Ive got 11 rentals, 4 pressure washing crews, 2 laundromats and a storage place outside Birmingham. Last year we did around $742k gross according to my CPA. Nothing flashy just boring businesses that make money.

The rentals are honestly crazy too. Bought a duplex in Alabama for $118k back in 2018 and now rents are around $1875/mo total. Tennants mostly leave you alone and every 6 months we bump rent another $75 or so and nobody really pushes back. Pretty much prints money if youre organized.

But man interviewing younger people lately is rough.

Had a kid come in with a giant Starbucks drink talking about “protecting his peace.” Buddy youre applying to spray mold off sidewalks.

Another guy had a weak handshake couldnt make eye contact and kept checking his phone while I was talking. Then starts asking about work life balance. Brother your LIFE should basicly BE work at 22 years old.

Half these kids got rooms full of Funko Pops financed trucks $700 phones and subscriptions to every streaming app on earth but cant figure out why theyre broke.

Now to be fair there ARE still some good younger workers out there. Ive got 2 guys in their early 20s that are absolute work horses. Show up on time hustle all day ask questions and dont complain when its 97 degrees outside. I bumped both of them another $1.65/hr at their last perfomance review because good workers are hard to find nowdays.

Boy they just dont make em like they used too lol

I hope the younger generations understand that there is an opportunity cost to selling your youth, materialism has raped American minds

I mean, there is, but that implies there's some other more productive thing they could be doing. Humans are meant to create and fix things. Someone who indulges in wasteful temporary pleasures their whole 20s wasted their youth.

The lol at the end shows you read this and see how ridiculous this sentiment is
