Yeah its wild to me. My coworkers, all of them, spend all their money on life style. We all make ~150k USD so relatively well of, especially in the state we are in. Some of my coworkers even opted out of their 401k. The ones that do have a 401k have no idea how it’s doing or what its invested in. None of my coworkers have a roth.

For most old normies I know, work is such a central part of their identity they'd kill themselves if they were ever forced into retirement. My dad is like that and he's told me several of his coworkers have come back after retirement to continue working at the same job (on reduced hours).
