The idea is generally correct; the implementation was dissastourous, idiotic, and not nimble enough for real world conditions. Excluding crypto, which is all coordinated trading strategies/scams and zero fundamentals, the stock market is two parts coordinated trading strategies/scams, one part fundamentals, and one part chaos and a random walk. The random walk and chaos is where the real demand truth reveals itself. The real demand shows itself in flash crashes when the trading algorithms are turned off or slowed for awhile. Bur that one part of fundamentals allows for long coordinated cycles of manipulation which takes control. The random walk element is just noise and is used in attempts of inspiring fear to shake people loose. We typically experience 5 years of annualized gains around 20% a year. And then one year where the major market averages declines by 30%. And yes, Wall Street can and does coordinate exactly where they want prices to go. They are largely all in lock step and they also have illegal market manipulation nodes throughout the world where they recognize the circular trading signatures and then pattern their legal market making and high frequency trading algo's to take advantage and further the manipulation trend in ways which appear legitimate. And these bear markets where declines exceed 30% or more is Wall Street's attempt to beg the Fed for more liquidity and rate cuts. And the rich whine and get their way...always. the market cycle and Fed's liquidity is now entirely manipulated and controlled. And Wall St also coordinates down turns in order to keep the SEC from shutting down their circular trading scams entirely. Planned booms and planned busts is safest. It lulls the regulators to sleep.
